For the price, the Osmo Action 4 exceeds expectations. You get a compact action camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, which is larger than most models in this price range. It shoots 4K video at up to 120 fps, handles low light well, and supports HDR recording. It also has color screens on the front and back, which is a huge plus for vloggers and solo shooters. DJI’s RockSteady 3.0+ technology keeps footage smooth, even when moving quickly or in challenging conditions. The camera is waterproof to 17 meters (27 meters) out of the box, so it’s as comfortable in the ocean as it is on a bike.

The Essential Combo doesn’t include all the extra batteries and mounts of the Adventure Combo , but it still covers the basics: one battery, a protective frame, and mounts to get you started. The battery itself is rated to last about 160 minutes, depending on your resolution and settings, and it charges via USB-C. PCMag gave it a solid review , particularly praising its image quality and thoughtful design. If you’re looking at GoPro alternatives but don’t need all the latest bells and whistles, this could be a golden age. Just keep in mind that it doesn’t support internal storage—you’ll need a microSD card . Still, for under $200, it’s a very capable camera for travel, underwater shooting, or just capturing your everyday chaos.
