New to Prime Day? We’ve got everything you need to get started . Sales information is accurate at time of publication, but prices and stock levels are subject to change.
Here at Lifehacker, we try to find the best Prime Day deals on tech we come across, and I can honestly say that the Samsung T7 Portable SSD , which is now $80 (40%) off its $199.99 price, is the best external drive I’ve ever used. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed if you pick one up, either.
Full transparency: I’ve only owned a few external drives, so the sample size is pretty small. But this is a solid SSD that can handle drops or bumps, and it delivers impressive read and write speeds (up to 1,050 MB/s) no matter what your needs. It’s also smaller than you might think, measuring just 3.3 x 2.2 x 0.3 inches (and weighing just over a couple of ounces) just right for pocket storage.
My fellow LIfehacker Eric Ravenscraft has also been using the Samsung T7 extensively and says it never stutters when recording BRAW video at 6K, so the team recommends this compact drive. Amazon ratings aren’t always a reflection of a product’s quality, but they’re also very high here.
The above offer is for the 2TB version of the drive in gray, which is likely to appeal to most buyers. If you click on the ad, you can choose from a variety of colors and capacities up to 4TB, although the price and discount will of course vary.
Looking for something different? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot are running Prime Day sales that are especially helpful if you don’t have an Amazon Prime subscription.
