New to Prime Day? We’ve got everything you need to get started . Sales information is accurate at time of publication, but prices and stock levels are subject to change.
Prime Day has never been a single day, but this year it’s somehow stretched into four . And as we approach the final day, one thing remains the same: Despite being the biggest online sale of the year, Prime Day can be incredibly frustrating.
There are countless items that are “sold out,” but without careful research, it’s hard to know if the sale price is actually a good deal. For some people, this search can be a “fun” experience, like rummaging through the discount bin at your local store in hopes of finding something worthwhile. But if that doesn’t sound so exciting to you, let me help: Our writers and editors are scouring all of Amazon’s deals on laptops, headphones, smart home tech, kitchen appliances, and more this week to find the bargains that are actually worth checking out. Below are 50 of our favorite deals from the first four-day Prime Day. Whether you’ve been waiting for this moment or just checking out, don’t miss out.
The Phone-Shaped E-Book That Became a Cult
I’ve personally been obsessed with the Boox Palma e-reader for about two years now. It has a phone form factor, a Kindle screen, and an open Android operating system that lets you download any reading apps you want, so you’re not tied to buying books from the retailer that sold it. Carrying it around with my iPhone has allowed me to read far more and scroll far less. It’s almost never on sale, so the current $30 discount is a relative bargain.
Amazon’s Color Kindle $100 Off
While I personally don’t like it as much as the Boox Palma (or even the Boox Go Color 7, which I personally think is the best all-around color e-reader ), Amazon’s Kindle Colorsoft undoubtedly offers the best image quality of any e-ink device I’ve tried . If you’re okay with being tied to the Amazon ecosystem (and you understand the shortcomings of color e-ink ), it’s a fantastic buy right now — $100 off the regular price, and cheaper than the regular price of the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (which , by the way, is currently on sale for $150 ).
OLED Nintendo Switch on sale for $100 because who needs a Switch 2?
Okay, so I want a Switch 2 (for Mario Kart World !), but I won’t be buying one for a long time, considering I only bought the original Switch in 2021. Given the Switch’s huge catalog of third-party and indie games, you’ll definitely be able to keep playing on the Switch OLED (the updated model with a bigger, better screen) for years to come — and with a $100 discount, it’s a whopping $200 cheaper than the previous version. You can also get a bundle with Mario Kart 8 for $25 more, which is pretty good considering you’re probably already buying Mario Kart 8. (That’s a deal from Woot!, but considering Woot! is owned by Amazon, I still consider that a Prime Day deal.)
Meta Quest 3S so you can see what VR gaming is all about
I’ve had a Meta Quest 2 for a few years now, and I’d describe it as the coolest gadget I’ve ever used. Playing VR is incredibly fun and immersive, but the headset is too heavy, the video quality is a bit blurry, and playing for longer than 15 minutes makes my eyes hurt. The Meta Quest 3S would likely solve many of these issues: it’s lighter, offers better video quality, and is supposed to be more comfortable overall. Lifehacker’s Steven Johnson thinks it’s a smarter buy than the pricier Meta Quest 3 , especially with a $50 discount.
Xbox without actually purchasing an Xbox
I’d love to play a few Xbox games, but I’m already deep into a bunch of Switch games I haven’t finished yet, so switching platforms never really made sense to me. If only there was a Netflix for Xbox. Oh, wait! You could buy a 4K Amazon Fire Stick, a game controller, and an Xbox streaming app subscription, save about $60 thanks to Prime Day, and play a ton of Xbox games without buying an Xbox ? I guess I could.
Microsoft Surface Pro Laptop and Tablet Combo
Our tech reviewer David Nield gave this 2-in-1 a glowing 4.5/5 rating earlier this year , praising its features, compact build, and battery life. That’s another reason to get it at its lowest price yet — $100 off, which makes it a lot easier to buy the keyboard and stylus bundle.
A MacBook Air that will last for years to come
Maybe Apple is overdoing it with the MacBook Air line. I’m still using a 2020 M1, and it works almost like new. I can only imagine how long I’ll be able to use the new M4 MacBook Air, which now comes with 16GB of RAM. (Probably much longer than I’m willing to imagine in 2025.) It’s currently $150 off, making it one of the best Prime Day deals, according to our tech editor Michelle Ehrhardt.
AirPods Pro because… it’s AirPods Pro but 40% off
It probably goes without saying that Apple AirPods Pro are a great buy for iPhone owners or anyone in the Apple ecosystem. They regularly appear on “best wireless earbuds” lists, including ours , and now you can spend a lot less on them — 40% off — one of the biggest discounts I’ve ever seen on an Apple product.
AirPods Pro Max at a price that’s truly worth it
Lifehacker tech editor Jake Peterson loves his Apple AirPods Max earbuds, but he’ll admit that the $550 retail price is steep considering you can get similar earbuds for much less, albeit less stylish and Apple-compatible. But that’s what Prime Day is for: These outstanding over-ear headphones have been marked down $120 to around $430, making them well worth the purchase .
Or AirPods 4 if you don’t have the money.
In addition to Apple’s insanely expensive AirPods, Amazon has a great deal on the newest AirPods 4 without ANC, which are now just $89. Granted, that’s for the version without ANC, but it’s still a great price. (AirPods tend to hold their value for a long time and rarely go on major sales.) I bought these for my daughter for Christmas and paid $30 more, which is what the ANC version is now , by the way. Instead, I got the satisfaction of my daughter exclaiming, “Oh, just the regular ones? Thanks, I guess.” (Just kidding, she was still totally stoked.)
Or the Sony WF-1000XM5s, one of the best AirPods Pro alternatives.
Look, maybe you don’t need AirPods at all? I get it! (I’m a Beats Fit Pro fan myself.) Well, maybe you should consider Sony’s beloved AirPods Pro competitor, the catchily named WF-1000XM5s . At $199, they’re on sale for $100 off, and everyone can probably agree they’re better than Apple’s earbuds (except maybe those who’ve convinced themselves that Apple’s earbuds are the ones to buy).
Rugged 2TB External SSD Drive
I’ve been working from home for so long that I’ve forgotten that people take external hard drives with them when they go places. Two of our mobile freelancers, David Nield and Eric Ravenscraft, recommend the Samsung T7 Portable SSD for its reliability, durability, and read/write speeds. It’s currently 40% off, down to $119.
Oura Ring 4 goes on sale for the first time
I’m not a big fan of wearing fitness trackers — if I’ve ever logged a non-walking workout on my Apple Watch, it was probably by accident — but Lifehacker Health Editor Beth Squareschi loves them and knows her stuff. She’s been wearing an Oura Ring for more than four years now , so I trust her judgment when she says the Prime Day discount on the relatively new Oura Ring 4 is worth checking out. It’s only 15% off, true, but it’s also the first time the device has gone on sale, so if you’ve been waiting, now’s the time.
The Best Apple Watch for Most People
Maybe you’re not a fan of rings, or you’re not sold on the Oura Ring subscription price. Don’t worry — that’s why Apple gave us the Apple Watch, the fitness tracker/smartwatch for the rest of us. Now you can get the latest Apple Watch Series 10 — the best choice for most — for $120 off. That’s a pretty significant 30% discount on Apple products (and Walmart is offering the same discount if you’d rather shop there).
The Best Value Garmin Fitness Watches on the Market
Lifehacker Health Editor Beth Skavrecki has tested all sorts of fitness trackers ( she’s written a whole series about it! ), so you can take her word for it when she says that the old-but-still-good Forerunner 955 is the Garmin that gives you the most bang for your buck . It’s currently priced at $350, the lowest she’s seen for this workhorse, with features and bells and whistles that rival much pricier newer models.
A Heart Rate Monitor You Can Trust Costs Under $25
Sure, you can buy a fancy $500 fitness watch, but if your main goal is to monitor your heart rate during workouts, it’s not going to be as accurate as this CooSpo chest strap , which Beth trusts so much that she uses it to set a baseline when testing other fitness gadgets. Did I mention it costs less than $24?
The Google Pixel 9 Is So Cheap Our Deal Maker Upgraded It
Our resident deal expert Daniel Oropeza is on the hunt for sales and the best deals every day, so when he says that the Amazon Prime Day price on the Google Pixel 9 was a good enough deal to entice him to upgrade his Pixel 6A while he was writing about it , it’s worth paying attention. The Pixel 9, one of Google’s best phones ( according to our tech editor Michelle Ehrhardt ), is currently on sale for $250 off.
Google’s Best Foldable Phone at a More Affordable Price
Look, even with the discount, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is still an expensive device, but $1,384 is definitely a nice discount from its $1,800 retail price, and it’s the lowest it’s been since it launched last year. Our review also called it ” arguably the best phone Google has ever made ,” so, you know, we like it.
A 5G smartphone under $200 with lots of features
Today’s flagship smartphones are so advanced that I’d wager most people never use the lion’s share of their features and capabilities. Instead of stretching the cost of a $1,000 Samsung over several years, you might find that you’re perfectly happy with a budget option. The Motorola Moto G Power 5G packs an astonishing set of features for a device that costs just $170 (unlocked!), including a decent camera, a powerful processor, and a battery that lasts 12 hours. Here’s your chance to ditch the upgrade track and just…get a phone.
An iPad You Won’t Be Afraid to Give to Your Child
I used to be one of those “limit screen time” parents, but then the pandemic happened, and now my life is a constant battle with YouTube, Roblox , and an inability to control my emotions (and not just my own). If you have a toddler who’s prone to, say, throwing a tablet on the floor when a game of Grow a Garden doesn’t go as planned, make sure they’re not throwing an $800 iPad. In other words, now’s the time to buy an entry-level 11-inch iPad , because you can get it for 20% off.
The Android Tablet With A Pro Stylus That Made Me Want To Learn To Draw
When I reviewed the XP-Pen Magic Note Pad , I was impressed by its capabilities as a regular tablet, but also convinced that I was missing out on the art-loving experience. It comes with a highly sensitive stylus that will captivate any digital artist: It has four times the pressure sensitivity of the Apple Pencil, meaning you can capture your artistic vision much more accurately in digital form. It normally retails for $440, but is currently discounted by a whopping $180.
An e-ink notebook that will turn you into an organized person
While I haven’t had the chance to do a full review, I’ve been testing the Viwoods AiPaper digital notepad for a few weeks now and am quite impressed – it’s easily able to compete with more established brands like Supernote and reMarkable. If you’re looking for an e-ink notepad with a responsive stylus, smooth, realistic writing, and a full-featured note-taking app, this is a great option. It also stands out from the competition with its (if slightly finicky) support for the Google Play Store, which means you can also download e-reader apps, office apps, and more, though not all of them are officially supported and may not work as you expect. (By the way, it’s called AiPaper because it has an integrated ChatGPT bot and built-in translation and summarization features. They work well, but you can also just ignore them—death to AI, I’d say.) The 10.6-inch model is $70 off, costing $469 , or you can opt for the smaller 8.2-inch AiPaper Mini for $100 less .
Incredibly large and eye-pleasing e-ink notebook
If you value the capabilities of an e-ink notebook like the Viwoods AiPaper but are looking for a notebook with an absolutely huge screen, I really like the Boox Note Max , which has a 13.3-inch display that rivals your laptop’s screen ( read my review ). It offers a comfortable, paper-like writing experience, a smooth stylus, and a crystal-clear e-ink screen . Like the AiPaper, it supports the Google Play Store, but without all the hassle that other devices have to jump through to get it to work. It’s definitely pricey, retailing for almost $700, but you can save $60 during Prime Day. Ten percent may not seem like a lot of money, but as I noted above, Palma, 2, and Boox devices are almost never on sale, so this is a great time to buy.
Portable charger the size of a keychain (it’s also a keychain)
Being outside with a dead device is a nightmare , especially when you have a charging cord but no plug, or a plug but no charging cord. What if you had this keychain that was also a universal charger with built-in USB-C and Lightning cables? Then you’d never be without a charger, buddy! Unless your keychain charger dies. Don’t let that happen .
A handful of AirTags
AirTags are great for keeping track of things: I keep one in my car so I always remember where I parked, one attached to both sets of keys, and one to my Beats Fit Pro case because I lose it several times a day. I need more, so I’m getting them on sale for Prime Day: a set of four earbuds is $65 instead of $100, or about $16 each—a bargain for the peace of mind of never having to ask my wife if she’s wearing my earbuds again.
A Big 4K TV for Much Less Than You Think
Last Prime Day, I set a goal to buy a new TV that was a) at least 50 inches and b) under $250. I picked up an Insignia — Best Buy’s house brand that’s also sold on Amazon for some reason — that ticked both boxes, and I was pretty happy with it. Oh, if only I’d waited! This year, I could spend $70 less and get all that , plus 4K resolution! Alas: I’ll have to leave that $170 Insignia 4K 50-inch LED TV with Alexa integration to someone else. (If you want a bigger TV, there are deals on a few larger sizes, too.)
The TV That Looks Like the Photo Frame You Look at Every Prime Day
If you’re anything like me, every year when Prime Day or Black Friday rolls around, you picture yourself shelling out big bucks for Samsung The Frame , the flat-panel TV that hangs on your wall and acts as a painting when you’re not watching. I still haven’t bought one, and considering I’m getting another, decidedly non-frameless TV in 2024, this probably isn’t my year either. But maybe it finally is! If so, now’s the perfect time—the current nearly 50% discount ($700!) brings the price of the 55-inch model down to a near-record low.
The Two-Way DVR Our Writer Would Like to Buy
My secret passion on social media is viral dash cam videos of the incredibly stupid ways people get into accidents (but I only like the ones where no one gets hurt, because I’m not a bad person). Maybe one day I’ll be able to make my own if I buy a Viofo A229 Pro with front and rear HD cameras to capture all the crazy drivers (but not you! You’re a great driver). This is the dash cam our freelancer Pranay Parab dreams of buying .
The Karaoke Machine That Can Change Your Life
I know how a karaoke system can change your life? Well, our own Steven Johnson says the Ikarao Break X2 Smart Karaoke System changed his life , and who am I to doubt his life experience? It actually looks pretty cool, with an Android touchscreen tablet, two wireless microphones, up to 300 watts of audio output, and an electric guitar input so you can use it as a rehearsal amp. And it’s $120 off! That’s a bargain to change your life.
The GoPro Hero 12 Camera That Might Change Your Life
Wait, Steve also says that the GoPro Hero 12 is his favorite gadget ever and that getting one could change your life. What is that, Steve? A camera? A karaoke system? What if you film yourself with a GoPro using a karaoke system? Either way, the camera sounds pretty cool and it’s $80 off .
Steve’s Favorite MIDI Keyboard for Making Questionable Music
Steve claims to be a terrible musician, but judging by his ravings about this Akai MIDI keyboard, he seems to be protesting too much. He says it’s essentially a mini-music studio that can make just about any kind of music, good or bad. And it’s really cute. (Why is the red one cheaper? Now I really want one.)
Charming Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
I don’t understand portable speaker lovers—I love the tinny sound of my iPhone speaker!—but if you want your music to actually sound, you know, great when you’re on the go, the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 ( our freelancer Khamosh Pathak’s top pick for backyard picnics and chilling ) is currently only $66, down from $100. Might be worth it. After all, it’s backyard barbecue season. Not that I have a barbecue. Or any friends!
A Loud Party Speaker That Might Make Your Neighbors Angry
Maybe that waterproof Bluetooth speaker is too weak for you. Or maybe you want a party speaker so loud your neighbors will hate you and you’ll outrage everyone when you take it to the beach or park. Then you need the Soundboks Go , which our in-house party speaker expert Daniel Oropeza calls one of the loudest speakers he’s ever tested . It’s currently on sale for $200.
Our food writer’s favorite deep fryer
Lifehacker culinary expert Ellie Chanthorn Reinmann has tried a lot of air fryers , but her favorite is the Instant Pot Vortex . This speedy workhorse is 40% off for Prime Day, down to $90. I’m definitely buying one to replace my small, budget air fryer I bought from Freecycle.
Professional milk frother
I’ve written extensively about my coffee obsession for Lifehacker, sharing the products and gadgets that fuel my caffeine habit , but somehow I’ve never bought myself a proper milk frother. The little IKEA frother is basically a novelty, and the Nespresso frother I found on the street (thank you, Park Slope, Brooklyn’s free-coffee-machine culture!) doesn’t make fluffy milky clouds. So I’m tempted by the Dreo All-in-1 BaristaMaker , another Ellie recommendation (she gave it a rave review ).
Midea Window Air Conditioner That Won’t Get Moldy
Midea’s U-shaped window units have a devoted online following, or they did until the “mold recall” scandal earlier this year. But don’t let that put you off! The company fixed the problem, and you can now get an updated, mold-free model for a pretty cool 25% off. That means the 12,000 BTU model that now cools the entire first floor of my house is $360, which is significantly less than I paid a few years ago (other sizes are discounted by a similar amount, too).
Colorful Precision Coffee Maker
Last Prime Day, I was jealous when Jake wrote about a deal on the bright, adorable Moccamaster Technivorm , which is loaded with enough smart features to impress any coffee lover ( read his review here ). It was already sold out then, but you can still get the white one for 50% off right now. You might want to do that now. ( Update, July 11: It’s sold out again!)
The Dutch Oven That Doesn’t Cost $500
As an adult, I’ve learned about the status that comes with owning a Le Creuset Dutch oven. But those adorable, chunky, caramel-colored beasts cost a pretty penny, so I’ve never gotten the chance to indulge. Still, my slow-cooking dreams don’t have to be just that—I can spend a quarter of that (or less!) on a perfect chrome Lodge Dutch oven. Ellie has been telling us about the value and utility of this obscure brand , and Lifehacker editor-in-chief Megan convinced me to buy one this year by gushing over her previous Prime Day purchase . At 23 percent off, a three-quart enameled cast-iron Dutch oven costs just over $60. Think of all the money you’ll have left over for the ingredients!
The Portable Power Bank That Saves Your Butt Is $1,000 Off
It was 95 degrees in Brooklyn today, and I was only surviving thanks to my Midea 12,000 BTU air conditioner ( pretend there was no recall ). If our power had gone out, not only would I have missed the first day of Prime Day, but I would have collapsed on the couch. To avoid that, I might want to invest in an emergency battery backup. Our trusty freelancer Jeff Somers swears by it — and right now, you can buy a Bluetti power bank that can power nine devices at once for $1,000 off.
A remote controlled bidet that will make you look forward to going to the bathroom
Speaking of butts, I’ve been testing the Coway Bidetmega 500S at home for about six months now, and the best review I can give is that I’m not disappointed in the least every time I have to use a different toilet. It’s seriously good, with tons of features that justify the price, from individual user profiles to an adjustable spray, on-demand warm water, and a built-in deodorizer. Amazon users consistently praise it as the best bidet they’ve ever used, and right now you can get one for $270 off. Your butt will thank you.
A vacuum powerful enough to send pet hair into oblivion
My parents had 12 cats as a kid, and I still carry those scars (literally just one of them) with me, so I’ll never have more animals than people in my house. But writer Jeff Somers is no slouch. He has about five pets, but somehow manages to keep his house spotless thanks to what appears to be a truly remarkable vacuum with a detachable brush that’s essentially a deshedding weapon. The $219 Shark NV752 TruePet Edition is 37 percent off — a small price to pay to wear a black wool coat in public again.
A robot vacuum expert’s favorite robot vacuum
Maybe you want your vacuum to vacuum for you. I’m too frugal to spend more than $1,000 on a robot vacuum, but a lot of people seem to love these things, including our robot vacuum expert and reviewer Amanda Bloom , who’s let dozens of robot vacuums roll around her home to evaluate their floor-cleaning performance. Of all of them, she calls the 3i S10 Ultra Combo Vacuum/Mop “one of a kind,” and it’s currently 37% off. She says she hasn’t stopped recommending it since she first tested it, so I guess I’m into it. Or I would be, if I had the money for a robot vacuum.
The Compact Carpet Cleaner Every Pet Owner Should Have
Even if your dog or cat is exceptionally well-behaved, you’re still going to have the occasional accident on your beautiful dining room rug. (Although is it really an “accident” when your dog pees in the house to let you know he’s mad that you’ve decided not to let him into the bathroom while you shower? You ask a friend.) For years, I’ve trusted Bissell’s Little Green Carpet Cleaner to deal with the aftermath of, well, my fidgety Pomeranian, and it’s been a lifesaver (or at least a lifesaver for my carpet and furniture). You can get it for 32% off right now, and if you have a four-legged pet in your home, it’s definitely worth it.
A multi-tool that everyone should have
Writer Jeff Somers and I also have a lot in common when it comes to homeownership: We’re both paranoid about things breaking, and sometimes too stingy to pay someone to fix them. Which is why he convinced me I, too, needed this DeWalt multi-tool he’s been raving about. It’s versatile, with interchangeable attachments that can be used for a variety of projects, and it’s currently 57% off.
DeWalt Starter Tool Kit While You’re At Work
Speaking of tools, whenever I edit posts from Lifehacker freelancer Becky Lewis , who’s incredibly knowledgeable about building, remodeling, and home improvement, I realize how ill-prepared I am. I might just buy one of her recommended DeWalt tool sets that’s on sale for Prime Day , like this five-tool 20-volt kit that ’s on sale for $399, 38 percent off its regular price. It includes a drill, driver, oscillating multi-tool, 6.5-inch circular saw, reciprocating saw, two batteries, a charger, and a tool bag. I’m already making plans.
Smart Leak Detectors That Can Help Prevent Disaster
Last year, while my son and I were camping, my wife sent me a funny text about how our water heater had suddenly started spraying water everywhere. After a $700 repair, we decided to invest in some leak sensors so we’d be notified in the future when water starts leaking in the basement (and hopefully before steam starts pouring out of the radiators upstairs). Our smart home expert Amanda recommends this set of three sensors from Aqara that work with a companion app to let you remotely monitor your home’s water issues for 35% off.
Blink doorbell, because it’s 2025. What are you waiting for?
You know what a Blink doorbell is. If you don’t have one, you should ! It’s great, and it works with Alexa. You’ve probably already given up on another company to have some kind of protection. Why not? Especially when you can get a battery-powered doorbell that doesn’t require wires for $30 ? (That’s 57% off! That’s a lot of percent!)
Compact Adjustable Ladder for Under $100
A ladder? Not very exciting. Unless you have a house with no ladder. In which case, you realize that a compact, adjustable 10.5-foot ladder for under $100 is actually pretty cool. (If you want a taller ladder, a 14.5-foot ladder is only $10 more .) Honestly, I’m definitely ordering one.
I am convinced that a retractable garden hose will change my life.
When our backyard hose started leaking about a year ago, my wife took it upon herself to buy a cheap replacement from the corner hardware store. I pretended to be grateful, but I was really seething because I was so looking forward to one of those retractable hoses that our gardener, Amanda Bloom, keeps talking about . Was Giraffe Tools’ 100-Foot Automatic Retractable Hose really going to change my life? Probably! I guess I won’t find out until our current hose breaks again. In the meantime, you can get one for 26% off, lucky you. (Are hoses more boring than ladders? I say no.)
A LEGO Star Destroyer, obviously.
Okay, enough boring housework — just buy this freaking awesome LEGO Star Wars set. I can’t think of a better way to unwind than by building a 1,555-piece LEGO Star Destroyer . It’s 30% off, which works out to about $111; LEGO’s pricing formula is the number of bricks divided by 10, so you can see why that’s a great deal. (Eric has other options for you brick-makers, too.)
Looking for something different? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot are running Prime Day sales that are especially helpful if you don’t have an Amazon Prime subscription.
-
Walmart’s Prime Day sale starts at midnight on July 8 and includes discounts of up to 50% . It’s an especially great deal for those with a Walmart+ subscription.
-
Best Buy’s Prime Day sale , Black Friday in July, runs through Sunday, July 13, and is one of the best tech deals online . It’s an especially good deal for My Best Buy Plus or Total members.
