Walmart’s KitchenAid Sale Is Even Better Than Amazon’s Prime Day Deal

Since I became a professional pastry chef, one of the main items in my kitchen has always been my KitchenAid stand mixer. It’s a real workhorse that makes my job easier, and I’ve had it for over a decade. It’s worth noting that these mixers don’t come cheap, and waiting until Amazon Prime Day is a smart way to get a KitchenAid at a discount. However, if you’re looking for something for your kitchen this week, Amazon isn’t your best bet. The best KitchenAid stand mixer deal right now is Walmart .
Right now, the KitchenAid 5.5-quart bowl-lift stand mixer is on sale for $279 , which is off its regular retail price of $449.99. That means more than $170 is going to stay in your pocket. That’s not to say Amazon isn’t selling KitchenAid stand mixers on sale — they are. But the only 5.5-quart equivalent you’ll find at Walmart is the KitchenAid 5-quart tilt-head mixer , not the bowl-lift type. (There’s also a 7-quart one , but that’s in a whole different price range.)
Why am I so fascinated by the bowl-lift handle? The tilt-head handle isn’t actually a handle, but a motor in the mixer head. While a stand mixer with a tilt head is fine for occasional use—maybe baking cookies once a month—a bowl-lift stand mixer head is much better suited for heavy-duty mixing, like large batches of thick cookie dough or kneading bread. It also means it will last longer.
Remember how I just said I’ve had my KitchenAid for over a decade? It’s been almost 15 years, and I’ve put my KitchenAid through its paces. I bake bread in it every week, and it still works great. I’ve also seen several tilt-head stand mixers break at the hinge when I was working in professional kitchens. It’s really sad; it always reminded me of Johnny Number 5 .
If you’re looking for a bargain right now, the 5.5-quart is the best choice. It has a decent bowl capacity, the most durable construction, and at $279 , you’ll get it for perhaps the lowest price of any kitchen mixer, bowl lift or otherwise.
