I’ve been making coffee with an AeroPress almost every morning for about 11 years now. It’s probably the best investment I’ve ever made. The AeroPress is a small, food-grade plastic piston coffee maker that’s incredibly easy to use and even easier to clean. Oh, and unlike electronic coffee makers, it doesn’t cost hundreds of dollars. It’s just $28 during Amazon’s Prime Day sale — its lowest price since the redesign and $40 price increase.
Why I Use AeroPress Every Day
In the morning, I like to make coffee without the hassle, and the AeroPress gives me just that. It’s ready in two minutes. I prepare the AeroPress by placing a paper filter in the basket, then adding ground coffee, a splash of water, and waiting two minutes. I push the plunger down, and out comes filtered coffee, brewed under the pressure of my hands. The paper filter makes it pure like a pour-over, and the pressure-pressing action makes it strong like espresso. And because the coffee was steeped in water for two minutes, it’s as rich as a French press.
The AeroPress is essentially self-cleaning. When I unscrew the filter, I find a coffee lump that can easily be thrown into the trash. All that’s left to do is rinse the piston, and the cleaning is done.
The AeroPress is compact and travel-friendly. The new model, made of Tritan instead of food-grade plastic, also retails for $40 less than the previous $50. I have both the new one and the old one, and still use them regularly in my studio.
