New to Prime Day? We’ve got everything you need to get started . Sales information is accurate at time of publication, but prices and stock levels are subject to change.
I ’ve tried a lot of adjustable dumbbells, and no matter which brand you choose , I can’t recommend them enough. Considering that buying individual pairs of dumbbells in 5-pound increments from 5 to 80 pounds would cost well over $1,500 (and take up a lot of space), investing in adjustable dumbbells is an obvious choice. And with Prime Day prices, now is a great time to buy. Right now, Cap’s adjustable dumbbells are on sale for 30% off, down to $208.99 from the retail price of $299.99.
Even without Prime Day discounts, these dumbbells are a great choice for the budget end of the market. More importantly, the Cap Adjustabell system is a clear example of what to look for when buying adjustable dumbbells. The twist-and-go mechanism is the gold standard for ease of use. Simply twist the handle left or right on the tray to adjust the weight from 10 to 55 pounds in 5-pound increments. No knobs, pins, or levers—just twist and go.
Having tested several brands and models, I can confirm that features like the anti-roll honeycomb design and contoured chrome handles make a huge difference to comfort. Plus, a sturdy storage tray solves practical organization and safety issues.
That said, if you’re willing to spend a little more, my favorite adjustable dumbbells are the Nuobells . Like the Cap set, you can adjust the weight with a flick of your wrist—no clanking, rattling, or other heart-stopping noises. The Nuobells are currently on sale for a modest 6% off, bringing the price down to $590 . That’s still a great deal, especially when you compare it to buying something like the REP x Pepin 85-pound all-steel set for $1,099.99. On the other hand, if you’re a beginner and don’t expect to need dumbbells heavier than 10 pounds, I recommend the Merach set, which is currently on sale for 15% off for just $43.31 .
When shopping for adjustable dumbbells, consider a weight range that suits your current and future fitness goals. Look for models with secure locking mechanisms that won’t break during your workout, and pay attention to how quickly you can switch between weights. Some systems use dial mechanisms, while others use pins or plates — each has its own benefits depending on your training style, which I’ve covered in detail in my Nuobells review here .
