My Gym Bag Is Only $24 on Prime Day

My favorite gym bag is on sale on Prime Day, and it’s one of the best (and most affordable!) gym bags out there. I’m talking about the Adidas Defender. It comes in a variety of sizes; I have the small (38 liters) , which is on sale today in black for just $24. Prices vary depending on the color and whether you’re looking at the 4.0 or 5.0, but you can also get the medium (66 liters) for $27 or the large (110 liters) for $33, to name a few. These bags typically run between $40 and $55 depending on the size.
I’m not kidding when I say this is my favorite gym bag. I bought mine six years ago. I’ve used it almost every day since then, and it still looks brand new. (Except for the purple ink I spilled in one of the inside pockets, but I managed to get most of it out.)
This is my regular gym bag and here’s what I usually carry in it:

A pair of Nike Romaleo 3 Weightlifting Shoes featuring a mesh side pocket.

The other side pocket holds a variety of snacks and electrolytes, including a packet of fun Sour Patch Kids sour patches that I can share with friends.

Small items like an inhaler, lip balm and phone charging cable are stored in a small front zippered pocket.

Leather belt (Pioneer Cut 3″ Single Prong Suede Belt) that I keep in the main compartment, wrapped around all my other stuff.

Also in the main compartment, inside the waistband: two pairs of knee pads, two pairs of ankle pads, a shoulder stretch band, a water bottle, a workout log, and probably a dozen other things I forgot about but will be there when I need them , if I’m likely to find them.
And it’s a small bag! There’s even enough room to fit a lunchbox and/or a packing cube with a change of clothes when I’m racing. The only area where it’s a bit tight is the shoe compartment – if I had bigger feet, I’d probably appreciate a medium-sized bag.
The medium size is also great for use outside the gym. Our editor-in-chief Megan Walbert picked up two mediums for her teenage sons at a recent sale. When I asked her about them today, she said, “My kids just took them to Ohio and are packing them up again tomorrow for a trip to the coast.” I stopped by last year when they were on sale, too, and she sent me a photo of them packed for a trip. These bags are durable and comfortable enough that we can’t pass them up, gym rats or travelers alike.
I’ll add that if you want to use these travel bags, you might want to invest in some packing cubes. Can I suggest two sets of U+U clean/dirty laundry packing cubes that are on sale today for a little bit ($2 off)? Each one has a zipper in the back to hold dirty laundry before heading home (so two cubes would be enough for two people in each room for clean and dirty clothes, or one could have one cube for the duffel bag and one for the suitcase, which is what I use).
