I travel a lot, which means my life often packs into a suitcase. For years, I didn’t care much about my luggage. As long as it fit, I was ready to travel. But my Away suitcase has changed my mind, especially since I fly a lot.
I have a “Large Carry-On” suitcase that is the perfect size for me. I admit I’m a bit of a minimalist when it comes to packing, but this suitcase will fit a week’s worth of my clothes, maybe more if I’m willing to sit on it to close it. One side of the suitcase zips up, and the other is open, with a divider that can hold flat items. It rolls well and hasn’t given me any durability issues in six years of use.
But the real reason I love this suitcase so much is in its name: the carry-on. This suitcase is small enough to fit into the overhead bins of most airlines, so much so that you probably wouldn’t believe it qualifies as a carry-on when you look at it. Even after more than half a decade with this suitcase, I still expect flight attendants to turn me away with my Away bag or to show some embarrassment when I’m delayed boarding because my suitcase doesn’t fit in the bin. But to my delight, it fits perfectly every time. While not all airlines officially support this bag, I’ve never had a problem. In fact, the only time I’ve ever checked this bag was when the flight was full and they made everyone check their bag. Shah, buddy , airlines.
