There are many companies making smart sensors, but some are better than others. And Aqara, in my opinion, is the best at it. They make more consumer smart sensors than almost anyone else, and I find their performance to be solid and consistent. An added bonus is that Aqara’s customer service is far better than most. I’d use Prime Day to take advantage of the discounts on their best sensors, and here’s what I’d buy.
Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor
I buy these sensors and throw them everywhere: like in my pop-up greenhouse in the spring to turn on the heater or fan; in the chicken coop to get an alert if the girls are too hot; in my plant nook to know if I should move them; in my car to know if I need to warm it up before going somewhere; and in my outdoor freezer to get an alert if something is wrong. They’re super handy, and they’re 40% off, down from $64.99 to $38.99.
Aqara Water Leak Detector Kit
Pro tip: Never buy just one leak detector. Buy a few and put them in different places. It’s 2025, so if you don’t have one under your water heater, you’re behind. Aqara Door and Window Sensor Kit
Installing these sensors on some windows gives me peace of mind because when I leave the house, I can check to see if I left a window open. I can also automatically turn off the air conditioner if the sensor detects a window is open, or turn on the fan.
