I’m a Food Writer, and the Kitchen Scale I Use Every Day Is on Sale for Prime Day.

Prime Day 2025 runs from Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price tracking tools.

Any working kitchen scale is better than no scale at all. That will always be true. However, if you’re frustrated by the Escali’s small platform or annoyed that your cheap, aftermarket scale goes off when you throw in five pounds of cookie dough, my foodie friend, it’s time to treat yourself to a better scale. Buy the OXO Good Grips 11-pound scale while it’s on sale. From a professional chef’s perspective: I use it every day and it works great.

I used a small round platform scale for years. It cost about $20, and honestly, it worked fine for a while. Then I started adding weight to my recipes, developing new ones, and had to put larger bowls on the little scale. That’s when I noticed that the scale would shift and become inaccurate if the ingredients were not centered in the bowl, and it got worse if the bowl or pan extended beyond the platform and display. (And then I couldn’t read the display.)

I replaced it with the OXO Good Grips 11-pound (4.5 kg) scale , and it was a huge relief (and I can now weigh accurately). This kitchen scale has a large square platform that won’t be dislodged by large bowls, a backlit display for weighing oversized bowls, and a retractable scale for weighing a particularly large container. Even with the wide platform, the scale is still fairly thin, so I can easily store it in my cutlery drawer.

The best part is that this scale is currently 23% off, costing just $43.06 . That’s a great price for all the goodies, especially since this sleek, round scale has gone up in price in recent years. It’s hard to find a reliable scale for under $30, so invest in one that will last for years to come.
