I’m a typical millennial woman, and I don’t mind that. I love buying things, especially things that work. One of the best examples is my attachment to my Dyson Airwrap . I got it for my birthday almost four years ago, using my 30th birthday as an excuse to justify spending $500 on a device that dries, volumizes, and curls my hair. (To be honest, I would have justified it anyway; I just wanted one.) It’s lasted a long time and still works great, so it’s been a worthwhile investment—but if you want an Airwrap, you don’t have to spend that much right now. When I was a kid, the Dyson Airwrap came in a big box with a bunch of attachments: four curling barrels, two replacement brushes, a round brush, and a blow dryer. Each barrel fit snugly over a base that ejected air, and each had a different function. Over time, the brand has pared down the barrels, introducing barrels with adjustable airflow valves so you can change the direction of your curls without changing the barrels or the blow dryer attachment. I bought one of the updated barrels, but the barrel is now standard on new Airwraps.
With so many different attachments and barrel sizes now available (for example, thicker, thinner, and designed for long or short hair), Dyson has released a shorter version of its original kit. The Airwrap Origin kit (the one currently on sale) includes just one adjustable barrel, a round brush, and an advanced blow dryer attachment.
I know $375 is a lot of money when you can get a blow dryer, round brush, and curling iron at Walmart for $25 each, but it’s not that simple. When you use an Airwrap, you’re drying and styling your hair at the same time. Over the years, it’s sped up my post-shower styling process so much that I can’t imagine going back to it. When I’ve found myself without it, like on weekend trips where I can’t justify lugging the entire tool around in my travel bag, I’ve dreaded the old days.
The Airwrap is quiet, effective, leaves hair smooth and voluminous, feels luxurious, and lasts – in my experience – forever without any issues. If you’ve been wanting one, now is the time.
