New to Prime Day? We’ve got everything you need to get started . Sales information is accurate at time of publication, but prices and stock levels are subject to change.
Mid-range gaming laptops have long been some of the best deals in tech. You get a decent gaming machine without the flashy design, melting graphics cards, or long waits. This Prime Day season, there’s one mid-range gaming laptop that stands out from the crowd—and it’s on sale during Best Buy’s Black Friday sale in July.
The HP Victus 15.6 laptop with Ryzen 7 and Nvidia RTX 4050 is on sale for just $650 from its $900 list price, making it one of the best laptop deals out there right now.
A mid-range gaming laptop at an amazing price
The laptop is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS processor with 6 cores and 12 threads. It is a solid gaming processor built on a modern 6nm architecture. The RTX 4050 graphics card, although belonging to the previous generation, is also not to be scoffed at. 6 GB of GDDR6 memory supports DLSS 3 technology for faster frame rates. You can play most modern games at 1080p on high or ultra settings without worrying about overheating or dropped frames. What more could you want?
The laptop also comes with a 512GB NVMe SSD for fast boot times and 16GB of DDR5 RAM. The display is a Full HD IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, which is good for gaming. However, the display only has a brightness of 300 nits. It’s not the best display for content creation or photo editing, but it’s great for gaming.
The build is solid, too, though not premium. The all-plastic chassis is sturdy, and the laptop weighs just over 2.2 kg. There are plenty of ports: Ethernet, USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4a, and HDMI 2.1. But since this is a gaming laptop, overheating may be an issue. (A cooling pad will help, though.)
Overall, for $650, the HP Victus 15.6 is a definite bargain. It packs a modern 6-core processor, RTX 4050, 144Hz display, and 16GB of RAM for the price of a five-year-old MacBook Air M1. Not bad at all.
