New to Prime Day? We’ve got everything you need to get started . Sales information is accurate at time of publication, but prices and stock levels are subject to change.
The Kindle Scribe, coming in December 2024, offers some nice upgrades that make the device more usable than the classic version. Scribe is designed for note-taking, something the regular Kindle can’t do. These upgrades aren’t cheap, but Prime Day is selling the 16GB version for $259.99 (originally $399.99) — an all-time low, according to price tracking tools .
The original Kindle Scribe first came out in 2022; the 16GB version is now $199.99 , which is also an all-time low during Prime Day. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option.
If you already have the 2022 version , there’s no compelling reason to upgrade — the main differences are that the 2024 version comes with a Premium Pen stylus instead of the Basic Pen, and the tablet itself is shorter, narrower, and thinner, but not by much (you can even use the same case). The new screen also has a texture that adds resistance when writing, making it feel more natural. The gap between the screen and the body is smaller, too. But that’s where the differences end, at least according to PCMag’s 3.5-star review .
Otherwise, you get the same book-format compatibility, the same 450g weight, the same anti-glare front-lit display with 300ppi resolution, and the same 12-week battery life. Both tablets run the same software. However, if you don’t have Scribe and are considering buying it, the new version is a better option, especially since it’s only $60 more than the old one.
