New to Prime Day? We’ve got the lowdown on everything you need to know . Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
An OLED monitor costs more, but it offers benefits that gamers value, like true-to-life blacks and more vibrant colors. Right now, the 49-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 offers all of the above, and it’s 32% off as part of Prime Day. This large, curved monitor, which delivers a more immersive gaming experience, is a great choice for those looking for the perfect combination of high-quality images and powerful performance.
QD-OLED technology delivers ultra-wide QHD 1440p resolution on a 32:9 aspect ratio display with Dual QHD (5120 x 1440) resolution. For those who value wider viewing angles and increased clarity, this monitor delivers 110 pixels per inch (ppi) for sharper details. It also displays more accurate blacks and darks by minimizing pixel bleed. Although OLED displays are at risk of burn-in, QD-OLED protection measures such as thermal modulation, screen saver timer, and logo dimming reduce this risk.
Like most models in the Samsung Odyssey line, the monitor can be tilted and the stand is adjustable. Picture-in-picture (PiP) and picture-by-picture (PBP) modes allow you to open multiple tabs without taking your eyes off the main screen.
Compared to the 49-inch Samsung Odyssey G9 without an OLED display with a refresh rate of 240Hz, this model has a lower refresh rate of 144Hz, which some gamers say makes a difference. Despite the protective measures, there is still a risk of burn-in, so caution is required during long-term use.
If you’re looking for an OLED monitor with a large surface area to fit on a desk (it’s not ideal for compact setups) and don’t mind sacrificing refresh speed, the Samsung 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G91SD) is a good choice, especially at under $1,000.
