I love a good kitchen appliance sale, but there’s only one piece of kitchenware that’s changed my kitchen — and I don’t cook with it. Outside of emergency purchases (like if my microwave breaks), if you’re going to buy anything on Prime Day, I highly recommend a kitchen vacuum. The Shark Wandvac is one of my most-used kitchen appliances, and it’s currently 50% off.
This shouldn’t shock you, but I cook every day. Of course, my profession helps a lot (I never post recipes I haven’t tried myself), and I spend a lot of time working on recipes and testing them in the kitchen, on top of the food my boyfriend and I cook every day. Plus, this summer, I have two cats who shed terribly and they like to hang out in the kitchen looking for cheese. The kitchen in this Brooklyn apartment has seen a lot. And it’s not great.
That is, until I got the Shark WandVac . It turns out that my kitchen’s drab appearance was mostly due to crumbs, hair, and coffee grounds that accumulated in corners, cracks, and seams. Big cleans like wiping down the stove and scrubbing the sink were easy to spot, but I was annoyed by how much time it took to thoroughly clean every tiny nook and cranny. (Why are there crumbs in my silverware organizer?) The Shark gets the job done.
The first and perhaps most important reason I love this tool is that it’s cordless. I’ll knock over jars and cups or drop a pepper grinder if I have to worry about a cord. The Shark comes with a charging station in case the battery dies, which only happens once every few weeks. I’ve had it for over a year now, using it for a minute or two every few days, and a full charge lasts about a month of vacuuming.
Its slim design allows me to get into hard-to-reach places in cabinets and reach appliances. It’s small enough that I can store it on a convenient low shelf so I can just grab it and quickly clean countertops when needed. Then I put it away again. It has great suction, isn’t too noisy, and comes with several attachments: a precision nozzle that I use every day, an extra brush, and a wider built-in nozzle.
