My Favorite PC Gaming Controller Is 20% Off This Prime Day

Prime Day 2025 runs from Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price tracking tools.

You’d think we’d have game controllers by now, but they keep adding more and more features. Extra buttons, more durable thumbsticks, even fancy lighting—there are plenty of improvements, but they usually come at a hefty price. That’s not the case with the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2. It costs less than Microsoft’s most basic Xbox controller , but it packs more bells and whistles than perhaps even the top-end Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Better yet, it’s even cheaper on Prime Day.

I have the predecessor to this controller, and the highlight is definitely the included charging dock. You’d normally pay a pretty penny for one, but this handy little stand comes with the Ultimate 2 and makes it easy to store the sticks and keep them charged at all times. Another bonus is the TMR sticks, a new technology that makes stick drift virtually impossible, ensuring this controller will keep playing like new for a long time. There are also rear paddles and Hall-effect triggers, which let you change their actuation time. Or, as a new addition to this version of the device, you can flip a switch to turn one or both triggers into instant digital clicks – perfect for shooter fans. Add in gyro support, extra bumper buttons, full button remapping via free software, nifty lighting effects around the sticks, and support for both Bluetooth and dongle connectivity (dongle included), and I don’t know what else you could want. The only catch is that this controller doesn’t work on consoles (there are 8Bitdo controllers that do, but they’re out of stock right now, and some of them have compromises). However, if you’re playing on PC or Android, this is easily the best controller you can buy right now. However, if you want to go even cheaper, you can pick up the budget 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C , which is currently only $24. It lacks the lighting, rear paddles, charging dock, and instant-on triggers, but it’s still a solid choice if you don’t need all the features of the Ultimate 2.
