New to Prime Day? We’ve got the lowdown on everything you need to know . Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
As much as we love flagship Android smartphones here , they’re not for everyone. Not every user needs the latest and greatest processor and camera, and smartphone technology has advanced so much that you might be surprised at how much you can get from a device that costs less than $200. Case in point: the Moto G Power 5G.
With great performance and a ton of nice features, this phone is already a great budget option at $299. But during Prime Day, it’s on sale for just $161.49 in Pale Lilac (the more traditional Midnight Blue is just $169.99 ) — yes, that’s for an unlocked, 5G-ready phone.
Good performance and battery life
The 2024 Moto G Power is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor and runs Android 14. Motorola’s interface is fairly minimalistic and handles all tasks without any lag or slowdowns.
The 6.7-inch display is bright and has a full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, though peak brightness is only 500 nits. The back panel is replaced with Motorola’s signature vegan leather instead of plastic, making the phone look much more expensive than $200. There’s even a headphone jack.
The MediaTek processor and 8GB of RAM are adequate for everyday tasks, but don’t expect AAA gaming performance. The 5,000mAh battery will keep you going for a long time: According to PCMag testing, the device can play 1080p video over Wi-Fi at maximum brightness for up to 12 hours and 15 minutes.
It earned an ” Excellent ” rating in the aforementioned PCMag Expert review, and even earned an Editor’s Choice award for the best mid-range Android smartphone. PCMag calls it “a great phone for Android users on a budget,” and I wholeheartedly agree.
