Ever since my house was broken into, I’ve been on the hunt for the best solar security camera that doesn’t require a subscription. The Aosu Solar Camera is that purchase for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy-to-install, reliable, 360-degree solar camera that doesn’t require a subscription. It’s available for $55.99 (originally $79.99), which is an impressive value for the money.

This camera is one of the best I’ve tested, and it’s easy to install. Simply mount it to the wall or column you want to monitor with a few screws. Ideally, it should be in direct sunlight. Mine has never run out of battery, even in the Atlanta winter. While it can work without direct sunlight, it doesn’t charge as quickly. The solar panel can’t be moved, so you’ll need to be strategic about its placement. However, since the camera rotates 360 degrees, the angle of the camera isn’t important when installing.

This app is the smoothest and most responsive I’ve used, compared to Reolink, Eufy, and Lorex. It has some useful features, like person tracking, which focuses on a person walking into the frame and follows them. It records in 2K at night. The subscription is free, but you’ll need an SD card . The app is IP65 weatherproof and compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant. You can also set alarms, and at night it has a floodlight that activates when motion is detected. It’s not as bright as a regular floodlight, but it’s bright enough to scare someone off a small porch at night.
