The Nest x Yale lock from Google is a unique entry in the smart lock space. It’s a collaboration between Nest (part of Google) and Yale, the company behind some of our favorite smart locks . It features a keypad for keyless entry and lets you unlock your door with your phone — whether you’re home or not. It’s currently $199 (that’s $100 off) as part of the Prime Day deal.
The numeric keypad not only allows you to set a PIN for yourself, but also to issue temporary PINs to guests or family members. You can even set a schedule for these PINs and disable them if necessary.
There is no physical lock and key, although there is still a physical deadbolt handle on the inside, so you don’t have to resort to digital tools to lock the door behind you.
The package includes a Nest Connect device that allows you to connect the lock to your Wi-Fi network. Previous versions of the lock did not have this, and without it , the locks cannot work online . Now you have everything you need in one package.
