Everything Samsung Told Us Today About the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7

Samsung just unveiled its latest foldables at Galaxy Unpacked : the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Each model is a slight upgrade over last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. But the announcement isn’t just about the latest generation of Galaxy foldables. Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
The star of the show is the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which may look similar to last year’s Fold 6, but it’s made a number of improvements. For starters, Samsung has made the Fold 7 even thinner: The foldable device measures just 8.9mm thick when folded (compared to the Fold 6’s 12.1mm) and 4.2mm when unfolded. The phone is also significantly lighter, weighing just 7.62 ounces (216g), compared to the heavier Fold 6, which weighs 8.43 ounces (239g), and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which weighs 7.69 ounces (218g).
Samsung has also made the Fold 7’s screens bigger. The main foldable screen measures eight inches diagonally, compared to the Fold 6’s 7.6 inches. The Fold 7’s outer screen is slightly wider at 6.5 inches and has a 21:9 aspect ratio, similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s. Like the Fold 6, the Fold 7 is splash and liquid-resistant with an IP48 water and dust resistance rating.
The Z Fold 7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor with 12GB of RAM. This chip should provide enough performance for both work and gaming. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The Fold 7 has a 4,400mAh battery, but it supports 25W Super Fast Wired Charging and 15W Wireless Charging.
In terms of cameras, the Fold 7 has a 200MP main wide-angle lens (up from 50MP on the Fold 6), a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. The front cameras, located on the outer and foldable screens, have a resolution of 10MP and are no longer located under the display. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be available in several colors: Jetblack, Blue Shado, and Silver Shadow.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 begin today, with the phone set to ship on July 25.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 changes are minor. The most significant change is that the Flex Window front panel is slightly larger at 4.1 inches, compared to 3.4 inches on the Flip 6. The main foldable screen is slightly larger at 6.9 inches, compared to 6.7 inches on the Flip 6.
The Flip 7 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 2500 processor with 12GB of RAM. Unlike the Fold 7, the Flip 7 has a 4,300mAh battery. (That’s a slight increase over the Flip 6’s 4,000mAh battery.) Like the Fold 7, the Flip 7 is IP48-rated for water and dust resistance.
The Flip 7 has the same camera as the Flip 6: a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle. The front camera has the same 10-megapixel resolution. The Flip 7 will be available in three colors: Jetblack, Blue Shadow, and Coralred.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is available for pre-order today, with shipping starting July 25.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Series
In addition to the foldables, Samsung also unveiled a new watch in the Galaxy Watch 8 series. This year, Samsung brought back the “Classic” moniker for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. And for fans of the rotating bezel like me, there’s good news: the Watch 8 Classic has one, meaning you can easily navigate the OS without blocking the touchscreen.
The Watch 8 Classic is available in one size — 46mm with a 1.47-inch display. The Galaxy Watch 8 will be available in two sizes: a 40mm model with a 1.31-inch display and a 44mm model with a 1.47-inch display.
The Galaxy Watch 8 series is powered by the Exynos W1000 chip with 2GB of RAM. This chip will be responsible for running Wear OS with Samsung’s new One UI 8 shell. The Galaxy Watch 8 40mm has a 325mAh battery, the Watch 8 44mm has a 435mAh battery, and the Watch 8 Classic has a 445mAh battery. The Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic will be available in black and silver colors.
