New to Prime Day? We’ve got the lowdown on everything you need to know . Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
Prime Day is in full swing, and it can be tough to decide where to spend your hard-earned cash when there are so many options . However, if you’re an Android user and you’re in the market for a new phone, I have a killer deal for you: The 128GB version of the Google Pixel 9 is $549 (originally $799), a new all-time low according to price tracking tools .
This deal is so good that I’m finally upgrading my Pixel 6A.
The Pixel 9 comes with 12GB of RAM, a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, and Android 14. Lifehacker deputy tech editor Michelle Ehrhardt thinks the Pixel 9 is so good that you probably won’t miss the bells and whistles of the Pixel 9 Pro (which is also on sale for $250). The AI features still have hiccups, but AI features will continue to improve over time; the most important thing to get right is the hardware, and Michelle calls it the best smartphone Google has made so far .
According to PCMag’s “excellent” review , the battery can last nearly 12 hours. The main camera has a 50MP sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view, the same as the Pro models, but it has a single-zone laser autofocus (LDAF) sensor (the Pro has multi-zone LDAF).
If you have a Pixel 8, you might not notice much of an upgrade in this model. However, if you’re upgrading from an older version or switching from a non-Pixel phone, the 9 has a lot to offer. One of my favorite things about Pixel phones is that they get consistent support over the years. My Pixel 6A is still getting all the updates and tons of AI features that make the phone feel new years later, with the latest coming out last month (if you have a GoPro, you can control it with your Pixel ).
But at this price, it’s too good a deal not to upgrade (I’m checking my cart as I write). With the Pixel 9, you’ll get a quality phone with software updates for quite a long time — a full seven years .
