New to Prime Day? We’ve got the lowdown on everything you need to know . Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
If you’re a DIY enthusiast, an oscillating multi-tool is a versatile tool that can help you cut, sand, polish, and scrape for a variety of projects. My cordless oscillating multi-tool is the most labor-intensive cordless tool I own outside of my drill and driver because I can use it for plumbing, woodworking, trim cutting, and drywall mortise cutting. The DeWalt 20-Volt Oscillating Multi-Tool is on sale for $119 (61% off the regular price), making it the best Prime Day deal on cordless tools I’ve found so far.
What’s included
The DeWalt 20-volt oscillating multi-tool set comes with a 2-amp-hour battery and charger, so it’s ready to use right out of the box. The kit also includes both a high-speed wood blade, which is good for general trimming and flush cutting in woodworking projects, and a wood nailing blade, which is good for cutting through installed trim. The included depth guide lets you cut into materials like drywall without damaging anything behind it. A universal adapter lets you use multiple attachments with your tool, and a sanding pad with included 25 sheets of sandpaper lets you start sanding and finishing right away. You also get a tool accessory case and a tool storage bag.
Why You Need an Oscillating Multi-Tool
If you have a repair and maintenance shop, you know that tools take up a lot of space, and having the right tool for what you’re doing will make your life easier. An oscillating multi-tool will do a variety of tasks, so you’ll get more bang for your buck.
You can cut PVC with the right blade on this tool, making it useful for plumbing or automated drip irrigation projects, and use the wood blades to cut trim or flush joints in woodworking projects. If you’re installing outlet covers, you can cut into drywall or wood to cut holes for outlets, and cut mouse holes into the backs of tables and shelves to accommodate wires.
The oscillating multi-tool is also a finishing tool, allowing you to scrape away old paint, sand tight corners, and polish surfaces for a high-quality finish. This tool has quickly become my favorite because it can do so many different things, making project prep easier and more convenient.
Why this tool is a good choice
DeWalt has a long-standing reputation for making durable, quality cordless tools, and its current cordless system is lightweight and compact, allowing you to use the tools for several hours between battery changes. The 20-volt battery this tool comes with is also compatible with other 20-volt DeWalt tools, so if you already use that cordless system, this is a good addition to your kit.
The universal adapter allows you to quickly change blades and accessories so you can cut different materials with ease. It has three speed settings so you can choose how fast you want to cut or grind, and the tool with all its attachments and blades weighs less than 2.5 pounds. There’s an LED light on the front of the tool, allowing you to work in dark corners without the need for a flashlight.
Since this tool comes with a variety of blades, as well as a sanding pad and paper, it makes a good starter kit, especially if you’re new to using an oscillating multi-tool.
