New to Prime Day? We’ve got the lowdown on everything you need to know . Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
With the advent of powerful smart TVs, the need for streaming boxes is no longer what it once was. However, maybe your smart TV software has become slow or outdated, or you don’t have a smart TV at all. Either way, the answer isn’t to buy a new smart TV; rather, consider a budget streaming stick. My favorite is the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max , which is on sale for just $35 on Prime Day 2025 .
It’s not the lowest price for this device, but it’s only two dollars higher. The list price is $60, which I think is way too expensive for what the Fire TV Stick 4K Max does.
I know some of you will say that there is a Fire TV Stick 4K available for under $30, but I would not recommend considering this product. While the Fire TV Stick 4K may be great, the biggest downside is that it only comes with 8GB of storage, making it virtually unusable for many people. Eventually, you will delete apps and find that the device becomes slow as the storage fills up. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max is a bit more expensive, but it comes with 16GB of storage, which is double the available space of the standard stick.
In my experience, Fire TV Sticks work best with Amazon’s own apps, which means it’s great for those who use Prime Video instead of other streaming services. While the experience isn’t always as good with non-Amazon apps, it’s good enough for a few binge-watching sessions. I also like the remote with its tactile buttons, making it easy to use even in the dark.
