I’m old enough to remember when finding out your car battery was dead meant you’d be stranded for hours and likely have to walk a long way. The invention of the cell phone has made this less of an issue, but portable batteries are the real savior in this situation. And this one from Noco is one I can’t live without. It’s down to about $80 on Prime Day from its original price of $125.
This little thing contains a 1000 amp 12 volt battery that can jump start your car when it won’t start. It comes with a special jumper cable that plugs directly into it and has a short cable to connect to your car’s battery terminals. The whole kit is so small that it can fit under a seat or even in your glove compartment if it’s big enough.
On top of that, it also has a built-in flashlight and USB ports that can be used to charge your phone. I keep a lot of emergency tools in my car, but this is the one I’ve needed to resort to more than any other. It’s a lifesaver if you or a loved one ever finds themselves without power. Just remember, it’s great for jumping out of your car, but you’ll still want to make sure your car’s battery (and alternator) are in good working order afterward.
I’ve bought this model for myself at least three times, mostly because I’ve loaned them to friends who have had car problems. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.
