Marshall headphones are known for their retro style, and they don’t skimp on sound quality. Right now, the Marshall Major V over-ear headphones are 38% off on Amazon, bringing the price down to about $100. Is it a good buy?
The Major V is an updated (and pricier) version of the 2021 Marshall Major IV headphones from 2024, which earned an “Excellent” rating on PCMag for their “bassy, punchy sound.” The new model offers several key improvements, including an impressive battery life (100 hours, compared to the old model’s 80 hours), wireless charging, and Bluetooth 5.3. The updated version offers minor improvements to audio clarity and app customization, like the EQ features and M buttons. They’re also compatible with Spotify Tap.
While they don’t come with a case, the foldable, lightweight design (just over 6.5 ounces) makes them a portable, self-protecting option. However, they don’t have a clearly stated IPX rating, so they may not be suitable for sweaty workouts in the rain. Additionally, some find the touch controls easy to use, but they may not be great if you prefer physical buttons.
Amazon reviewers praise their comfort, but if you’re a music lover looking for noise-canceling, you might want to opt for Anker’s over-ear option . Meanwhile, for a more budget-friendly option from the same brand, the Major IV’s predecessor is still a worthy purchase. However, if you’re looking for battery life that will last, a distinct retro aesthetic, and excellent bass depth, the Marshall Major V headphones are a solid value, especially at this Prime Day price.
