You Can Finally Change the Snooze Duration in IOS 26

The iPhone’s Clock app is one of the slowest-growing apps on the iPhone, getting less love and attention than even the Phone app. While there are plenty of new and interesting alarm clock apps out there, Apple’s default offering remains fairly basic and uncustomizable.

With iOS 26, Apple is bringing customization to one of its most requested features. Now you can finally break out of snooze jail. Until now, the snooze length for alarms was set to nine minutes, and you couldn’t change it. It was nine minutes or nothing.

Personally, I like to sleep in five-minute increments. So I got around this by setting six different alarms, all five-minute increments, to help me get up in the morning. But now I can finally put that chaos aside.

In iOS 26, which is currently in developer beta (and will soon be released as a public beta), you can now set the snooze duration to anywhere from one minute (if you really want to piss yourself off) to 15 minutes (if time is just a philosophical concept to you). Finally, I can set my snooze to five minutes.

Unfortunately, these changes are per alarm, so you’ll have to set the repeat every time you set a new alarm. Hopefully, I won’t have to set as many alarms as I used to.

To set the snooze duration in iOS 26, open the Clock app, go to the Alarms tab, and tap the Plus icon to create a new alarm. Or, you can tap an alarm you already have.

What do you think at the moment?

Then tap on the Snooze Duration option and select any duration from one to 15 minutes. Tap on the Done checkbox at the top to save the new alarm.

The next time your alarm goes off, you’ll see a new alarm screen with two equally large, beautiful buttons for snooze and stop. In previous versions of the app, you’d only see a snooze button in the middle and a small stop button below.

And hey, if you’re a little hardcore like my colleague Pranay, you can also disable the snooze button altogether .
