These Solos Smart Glasses Might Make Me Ditch My Ray Ban Metas

Smart glasses company Solos today announced two new models in the wearable tech space: the AirGo A5 and AirGo V2. Solos says its mission is to “make wearable AI more intuitive, accessible, and integrated into everyday life,” so the idea behind these new glasses is to ditch the gimmicks in favor of wearability and features that people will actually use.
Here’s what we can expect when these glasses hit the market later this year.
AirGo A5 Solo
AirGo A5 are lightweight smart glasses with audio functionality designed for people who want everyday glasses with intelligence and audio, but without the bulk and distractions associated with some wearables.
The AirGo A5s are cheaper than the industry-leading Ray-Ban Metas and are most noticeable for their lack of a camera. This helps reduce weight and also means your glasses will look more like regular glasses. The downside is obvious: no photos.
Here’s a quick overview of the A5’s features:
-
Hands-free control
-
Built-in AI agent SolosChat
-
Directional sound that minimizes sound leakage
-
Improved bass and high-quality sound
-
List price: from 249 USD
-
Available Q3 2025
There’s something to be said for glasses that do just what you want them to do, rather than trying to do everything. I’m very interested in the sound quality and comfort of these glasses. If they sound noticeably better than the Ray Ban Metas and are comfortable enough for everyday wear, they’ll be a good choice for many smartglasses users.
If you need a camera, the AirGo V2 might be for you.
AirGo V2 Solo
The V2 is a smart camera eyeglass designed for “travelers, content creators, and anyone who wants to document and share life in the moment,” according to Solos. Life sharing is possible thanks to a stabilized 16-megapixel camera capable of shooting HD video. The V2 also features SolosChat 3.0 AI, which uses ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and DeepSeek. All of this technology is contained in the Solos modular system, which allows users to swap out the front parts of the frame as desired.
Here’s a quick overview of V2’s features:
-
The company claims the 16-megapixel camera is the “world’s thinnest.”
-
Electronic image stabilization
-
Low power Wi-Fi to save battery life
-
SolosChat 3.0 is an artificial intelligence capable of recognizing objects, translating signs and receiving responses from multiple AI models.
-
Directional sound that minimizes sound leakage
-
High quality sound with improved bass
-
Replaceable battery
-
List price: from $299.
-
Available Q4 2025
I’ll be testing these smart glasses in real-world conditions in the near future, as well as comparing them to the similarly priced Meta Ray Bans, so stay tuned for a detailed review.
