How to Get Free Peloton Classes From Lululemon

If there are two things I love, it’s shopping and working out, which is why I’m such a big proponent of e-commerce marketplaces and the Peloton app . Imagine my surprise and delight when I noticed something unexpected last night while browsing Lululemon’s retail app: there are free Peloton classes. I played around with them, and I’m here to report that the deal is actually pretty good.
Where to find free classes
At the bottom of the screen when you open the Lululemon app, available on iOS , you’ll see five options: Shop , Classes , My Store , Saved , and Account . Tapping Classes takes you to a landing page that displays the Lululemon and Peloton logos and explains that with a Lululemon membership, you can access free classes with no trial or purchase required. There are six classes available, and they change monthly. Right now, all six are stretching classes that last between five and 15 minutes and range from beginner to intermediate.
A Lululemon membership is required, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to pay for anything—you just need an account in the app, the same one you’d use to sign into any app if you planned to make a purchase in it.
However, when I first noticed this offer last night, I was hesitant to believe that it was a no-strings-attached offer. My Lululemon account is a Sweat Collective account, meaning I qualify for a separate membership tier because I’m a certified fitness instructor. When I first saw the Classes tab, I wondered if this was one of the perks I get for being a Sweat Collective member, like the retail discount that comes with being a Sweat Collective member. To be sure, I created a new account with a different email address and logged in again. The classes were still free. I didn’t have to pay anything. So I can confirm that you won’t spend a dime if you try this (unless you’re understandably distracted by the urge to buy a Define jacket while using the app).
Why is this connection good?
I knew Peloton and Lululemon had a corporate partnership because I see instructors wearing Lulu gear when I take the occasional virtual spin class , but I didn’t realize that it would qualify the average person to take a class while looking at some leggings. That’s a pretty solid option for anyone considering a Peloton All Access membership, which costs $44 per month.
Personally, I think the membership fee is absolutely fair considering everything it gets you: Not only do you get to take the company’s famous spin classes (even without its signature stationary bike ), but you can also access strength training , guided walking workouts , meditation sessions , fun games , and more. I actually really like the guided stretches available through the app, so I was happy to see them as a free Lululemon offer this month. That said, I know $44 a month can be steep, so if you need to try before you buy or just want a few free workouts to complement your current fitness routine, this is a pretty sweet perk.
Beyond the Lulu tie-in, if you don’t have a Peloton Bike, Tread, or Row, you can just pay $12.99 for a stripped-down version of the app that only includes equipment-free classes like HIIT and yoga. You can also pay $24 a month for all of that plus spinning, rowing, or running classes, but no Bike, Tread, or Row compatibility. If you download those versions, Peloton will offer you a free month-long trial to see how you like them, but if you’re a Lululemon member (again, if you just want a free account), you can get a 60-day trial .
What to keep in mind
Six free monthly classes are a great way to introduce new potential customers to the Peloton brand and add some variety and excitement to the fitness routines of non-subscribers, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
The first is that there’s no syncing between the Lululemon and Peloton apps. Normally, when I start a stretching class (or any workout) through the Peloton app, it automatically connects to my Apple Watch to track my heart rate, generate a report on my breathing and strain, and add the workout to my Apple Health app. That didn’t happen when I took a class through Lululemon, and the class I experimented with there didn’t show up anywhere in my Peloton profile history.
Is this a big deal? No, not really; you’re still in good shape. But if you’re an existing Peloton user, there’s no point in accessing your classes through the Lululemon app, especially if you’re concerned about tracking biometrics or maintaining a Peloton “streak.” That offer is obviously only for potential customers, not existing ones, and that’s totally fine.
Good news for existing Peloton members: You won’t miss anything if you don’t check the Classes tab in the Lululemon app. I checked, and the six free classes there aren’t unique to Lulu. They’re all available in Peloton’s massive archive, too.
