TCL’s Entry-Level QLED TV Gets Another $100 Cut

TCL makes good non-OLED TVs (maybe some of the best for the price), like last year’s QM7, which I got my hands on and is still a great buy in 2025. There are a lot of differences between QLED and OLED , but if you don’t plan on shelling out thousands of dollars, QLED is a good choice.

Consider TCL’s new QM6K QLED, which starts at $498 (originally $698 at launch) for the 55-inch class. That’s the lowest price for this TV, according to price tracking tools .

TCL’s QM series offers good value for money, no matter the size you choose. The QM6K is a big improvement over last year’s version, now with local dimming zones (500, according to a CNET review) and a mini-LED panel, which significantly improves contrast. Color accuracy is also surprisingly accurate out of the box for HDR content, which is great for people who don’t like fiddling with settings.

With the QM6K, you get a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR formats like HDR ULTRA with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, Dolby Atmos Audio, an anti-glare screen, 4 HDMI inputs (one of which is eARC), and Google TV Smart OS (my favorite OS) with Chromecast built-in, which means you can cast your phone to it. You also get Apple AirPlay 2 and Alexa built-in, according to a ZDNet review .

What do you think at the moment?

If you’re a gamer, there’s a lot to like about the QM6K, according to IGN’s review . The Game Bar feature lets you adjust settings on the fly. There’s also a VRR booster that doubles the refresh rate to a perceived 288Hz. It also has AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, so you can enjoy smooth gameplay on your PC or console. That’s a lot to offer for a budget QLED TV.
