Google’s New Photos Editor Has an ‘AI Enhancement’ Mode

Google Photos has announced a redesigned editor for customizing images. As expected, the new editor adds several new AI features designed to help you choose the right effects and edit photos faster. It also includes a couple of previously Pixel-exclusive editing tools — Auto Frame and Reimagine — though it will take some time for everyone to see these updates.
Updated Google Photos Editor
With the redesigned Google Photos editor, tapping the Edit button underneath any photo will show you all your editing tools in one place. Recently, when you edit a photo, Google Photos will also now offer you AI-powered editing suggestions. To try this feature, tap to select the background or subject of the photo you’re editing, and the app will then show you a few editing suggestions. You’ll be able to quickly select your preferred editing tool and make your changes without having to navigate to the tool yourself. If that’s too much work, you can also just select the new AI Enhance tool, which allows Google to automatically combine different tools and give you three results to choose from.
Google says the new design will launch in Google Photos for Android next month, and will come to iOS later this year.
Share albums using QR code
At the same time, Google Photos has begun rolling out another new feature that makes it easier to share photo albums with others. The company says you can now generate QR codes for your albums to send to friends, family, or even a print shop if you want printed copies of your photos. Anyone can use the generated QR code to access the linked album, but there are sharing controls that help you limit who can view or add photos to the album.
