Use Google’s AI to Virtually Try on Clothes From Your Phone
There are some real-world use cases where AI can actually be a useful tool that doesn’t just serve as a shortcut for something you could do yourself. Case in point: Google’s new “try on” feature , which lets you see how different outfits look on your body using your phone or computer. The company announced the feature at Google I/O 2025, and it uses a photo you upload to generate images of you in different outfits. The feature is available through Google Search Labs starting today.
How to Use Google’s Try It Feature
To try out this new feature, head to the Google Search Labs page , sign in to your account, and sign up for the “try it” experiment. The next time you use Google to shop, you’ll see a “try it” icon next to various product listings. Click it to get started.
Google will ask you to upload a full-length photo of yourself, and once you do, the AI will generate images of you in the outfits you’re browsing. It’s worth noting that this works best if you upload a photo taken in good lighting and wearing form-fitting clothing. Otherwise, Google’s AI will have a hard time determining your body proportions, which could skew the final result. Once you’ve seen how you look in different outfits, you can share these photos with others to get their opinion, or buy the clothes you like right away.
The catch here is that you’re relying on the product photos themselves to be accurate. No matter how good Google’s AI is, it can’t show you what something will look like on you if the listing has misleading or inaccurate photos.
Ask Google’s AI to Track Prices and Buy Products for You
During the Google I/O 2025 demo of the “try on” feature, the company also revealed that you’ll eventually be able to ask Google’s AI to buy products for you. Once you’ve picked out an outfit you like, you can ask Google’s AI to track its price. When it reaches the price you want, Google will send you an alert, and you can ask the AI to buy it for you using the information in your Google Wallet (or you can buy it manually).
Google calls the feature “agency checkout” and says it will roll out in the coming months.
