You Can Safely Remove These Pre-Installed Apps From Your Samsung Galaxy

Like the iPhone , Samsung Galaxy phones come with a ton of pre-installed Samsung apps that you don’t necessarily need and may never need, especially since many of them have Google counterparts that you’ll also find on your phone.

Since these Samsung apps are preinstalled, you might think that deleting them might break something on your device, but you can safely uninstall most of them without worrying (and find them again in the Galaxy Store if you ever need to restore them).

Clearing out apps you don’t use regularly means your phone won’t have to download updates for them, and you’ll also free up some storage space. It’s worth taking a few minutes to remove any apps you don’t need, including those that Samsung has kindly installed for you.

You can uninstall any app on your Samsung phone from the app drawer: just long-press the app icon, then select Uninstall > OK . Here are the ones that One UI lets you get rid of quickly and safely:

  • Calculator : For doing calculations on your phone, provided by Samsung.

  • Calendar : Samsung’s Google Calendar Alternative.

  • Clock : Samsung’s own app for checking the time and setting alarms.

  • Galaxy Shop : Here you can buy everything from TVs to Samsung watches.

  • Galaxy Wearable : If you need to control your Galaxy smartwatch.

  • Game Center : A hub for launching your games and discovering new ones.

  • Global Goals : Samsung’s app for supporting charities and causes.

  • Notes : For creating notes with text, drawings, images, etc.

  • Penup : Samsung’s app for creating and sharing drawings.

Pre-installed apps that can’t be removed

This list makes up most of the Samsung apps that come with One UI, but it’s not all of them. You can’t uninstall Bixby, Camera, Contacts, Galaxy Store, Gallery, My Files, or Smart Switch when you’re trying to clean up your phone.

Other pre-installed apps that can be removed

Depending on where you are, you may also see a number of third-party (non-Samsung) apps on your Galaxy phone. These can all be safely removed, and may include Facebook, Netflix, and Spotify.

You may also encounter various Google and Microsoft apps. Here are the ones you can get rid of to free up space:

  • Google Drive : To access your Google Drive files in the cloud.

  • Google TV : Stream shows and movies across multiple platforms.

  • LinkedIn : A professional social network owned by Microsoft.

  • Microsoft Copilot : an AI-powered assistant from Microsoft.

  • Outlook : Microsoft’s email client for desktop computers, mobile devices, and web browsers.

  • YouTube Music : Google’s music streaming service.

For some preinstalled apps, including Google Chrome and Microsoft OneDrive, you won’t see an Uninstall option, but you will see a Disable option. Disabling an app hides it from view and stops its automatic updates, but it doesn’t actually remove it from your phone. You can re-enable these apps by opening Settings and going to Apps .
