How to Join the USPS Informed Delivery App Beta Test

I’m a big fan of the USPS ” Informed Delivery ” option. Once you sign up, USPS will send you daily emails containing all the letters and packages you expect to receive that day. (Scanned emails come in grayscale, on the address side only.) If you like to be surprised every time you open your mailbox, this service is not for you. But for the rest of us, it’s a useful way to keep track of the day’s incoming mail.

Now USPS is expanding this feature with a dedicated Informed Delivery app . The app will send you push notifications whenever you have new letters and packages and will also allow you to share package status with other people. For example, if you sent a package to a friend, you can share the tracking information from the app.

It appears to be similar to traditional email information delivery, only presented in the application’s user interface. (Though the push notifications are a nice touch, especially since more often than not my daily informed delivery emails get lost in my Gmail inbox.)

The thing is, you won’t find this Informed Delivery app on your iPhone or Android app stores because USPS is still working on it. But if you’re intrigued by an app, there’s a way to test it out ahead of time—as long as the beta isn’t full when you sign up.

What are your thoughts so far?

How to Sign Up for the USPS Informed Delivery Beta App

The beta version of the iPhone is now complete. However, you can check the status on the app’s TestFlight page . If space ever becomes available for the beta, you’ll see “View in the App Store” instead of “This beta is full.”

If you’re using Android, you can still try out the app before launching. On your Android device, go to this link , sign in to your Google account (if you’re not already signed in), then select “Accept invitation” or “Join this group.” Click “Join Group” on the next page, which will take you to a new screen with a link to download the Informed Delivery app. Tap the link, then install the app when prompted.
