Roku’s Latest Updates Are for Sports Fans, Movie Watchers and Trivia Buffs

There are several new features coming to Roku devices. These include alerts for new movies on streaming services, badges for award-winning movies, and sporting events for teams you support. According to the company, these updates will be released in the coming months. Here are all the new features Roku announced in its latest blog post .
A simplified way to search and watch movies
Roku is releasing a feature called Coming Soon to Theaters that displays Hollywood’s biggest theatrical releases in a new row on the home screen. You can use this to quickly find new and interesting movies that you’ll want to watch the next time you visit the cinema. If you’d rather watch it at home, you can add these movies to your save list on Roku, and the device will notify you when the movie becomes available on the streaming service. In a related feature, Roku is adding a new icon for award-winning movies, making it easier to find movies worth watching.
A more personalized sports experience
Roku is also adding a personalized highlight row to the Sports Zone section, which collects all sports-related videos. With improved personalization, you’ll be able to see clips of your favorite teams in the spotlight. You’ll also be able to turn on notifications for when your favorite teams from different sports are playing. Additionally, Roku said it is adding Sports Zone to more regions around the world, starting with Mexico.
More short content on display
In the Everything There Is and Home Everything sections, Roku will show special lines for short videos. If you want to watch short videos related to food or home, Roku makes it easy.
Updated Roku app
The Roku mobile app will be able to use your phone as a remote control for your TV. The app also adds more detailed information to its content pages, such as cast, crew, trailers, and IMDb ratings. This will allow you to receive useful information about the content you are viewing without leaving the application.
A simple game for nerds
Roku’s Daily Trivia is back after a short hiatus . The game shows you 10 questions every day, and after you’re done, you can view content related to the quiz topics. The quiz section now boasts improved visuals and allows you to access questions from older quizzes.
Access Roku City Anytime
The Roku City screensaver is quite popular among users of the company’s devices. This is a fake city that appears when your Roku is idle. With these updates, a Roku City tile will appear on your device’s home screen, allowing you to visit the fictional locale whenever you want. Roku also announced that Backdrops, a wallpaper feature, will be coming to its devices in Canada. This feature has been available in the US for a long time.
