Everything We Know About Amazon Prime Day 2025
While there was never any doubt that we’d see another Prime Day in 2025 , it’s now official: In a press release, Amazon confirmed the return of what’s sure to be the biggest online sales event of the year. Here’s everything we know about this year’s sale.
What is Prime Day?
While Amazon has several sales throughout the year (including the recent Great Spring Sale and last October’s October Big Deal Days ), the Summer Sale is typically Amazon’s largest and most publicized annual event. It’s typically a two-day event with deals in just about every category you can think of. Typically on Prime Day, you can expect some products to drop to record low prices, although not all deals are as good as they seem (I always check deals using price trackers to make sure they’re legit).
When is Prime Day 2025?
Although Amazon has announced that the event will take place in July, they have not yet announced any dates. Last year, the 48-hour sale ran from Tuesday, July 16th to Wednesday, July 17th. If I were a bettor, I’d bet the sale would happen on July 15th and 16th this year, but that’s just speculation. I’ll update this post as soon as we hear anything official.
Do you need to be a Prime member to shop during Prime Day?
You’ll need to be a Prime member to shop all Amazon Prime Day deals and get free shipping. Prime membership starts at $14.99 per month ( $139 per year). It’s easy to figure out whether an annual Prime membership is worth it for you , but remember that you can always cancel your Prime membership after the sale ends—Amazon offers free 30-day trials , so you can shop both days of the event and still have time to cancel before you’re charged. What sales can you expect during Prime Day?
Since Prime Day falls in the summer, you may find deals on outdoor items like gardening equipment , but the best deals are usually on Amazon appliances and devices. Amazon has already announced some of the categories that will be sold, including electronics, kitchen, cosmetics and clothing.
Prime Day is a good time to shop other retailers’ sales.
You can always expect large retailers to have their own competitive sales, the biggest being Best Buy , Target , and Walmart . I will update this post with details about these offers as soon as they are announced.
Some Prime Day Shopping Tips
If this is your first Prime Day, there are some basic things you need to know about selling on Amazon:

But if you only listen to one piece of Prime Day shopping advice, let it be this: Don’t buy anything you’re not going to buy anyway . A good way to make sure of this is to make a list of the products you need in advance and only shop from that list during the sale.
