This Is the Best Free Weather App for Windows

Windows does not have a weather app like MacOS and mobile operating systems. Sure, the widget area shows the weather, but it also brings up news headlines from the depths of internet hell and requires you to open a web browser page full of ads to get more details.
If you want a clear, ad-free, and beautiful way to check the weather on Windows, I recommendLively Weather . This is a free and open source Windows app (from developer Dani John) with complete weather forecasts. It also has beautifully designed background animations to reflect current weather conditions.
You can search for any city on Earth to check the weather, with a main summary displayed at the top of the screen and a seven-day overview below along with a timeline of weather conditions. There are also fields for UV index, sunrise and sunset, humidity, wind, air quality, pressure, visibility, cloud cover and total precipitation. Click on any day in the seven-day view and all of those fields will be populated with forecast conditions. You can also click on any field to view more detailed information.
For me, that’s more than enough weather information to make wardrobe and transportation choices. The only thing noticeably missing is radar, which some people admittedly rely on.
In the settings you can choose between imperial and metric units. You can also choose your weather provider: Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap and Qweather (China) are supported.
Finally, you can choose the quality of the visuals. It’s recommended to stick with the lower value unless you have a dedicated GPU, which is an absurd suggestion to describe a weather app. However, when you see the background, it makes sense. These are dynamic animations for a variety of conditions, from sun to rain, snow and lightning, all displayed behind transparent frames that provide up-to-date weather information.
I say it’s beautiful, and there are even ambient sounds to reflect the weather conditions (though I might suggest opening the window instead).
