These Dutch Ovens Are Now Under $70 (Including My Favorite)
Dutch ovens are heavy-duty cast-iron giants, ready to take on your next cooking challenge, whether it’s steaming, sautéing, boiling or roasting. But that kind of power usually comes at a (you guessed it) ridiculous price. It’s important to note that while Staub and Le Creuset may retail for between $200 and $500, other brands are just as effective . Here are three good options—well under $100—that are currently on sale in Amazon’s Big Spring Sale .
For a small roasting pan
I’m a fan of Lodge – I’ve had a 12-inch cast iron skillet that has been a great companion for almost a decade – and their 3-quart Dutch oven was heavily discounted. This Lodge Miniature Dutch Oven usually retails for over $100, but you can get it for $55.17 . (Please note that some colors may cost $60.)
Although a 3-quart saucepan isn’t very big, it can still cook three to four servings of side dishes, stews, and soups. Here are some of my favorite dishes to cook in the Dutch oven. This size is great for small storage spaces and is significantly lighter if you don’t want to lift a 15 pound piece of metal onto the slab. These durable cookware can last for generations if you take care of them, and still look chic.
Great options
Overmont. While I’m not familiar with the Overmont, this Dutch oven is a good option if you need a larger pot. This highly rated Dutch oven is a 5.5-quart pot that’s better suited for baking loaves of bread or preparing six to eight servings of soups and stews. It’s also good for braising roasts or thick cuts of meat and can handle temperatures up to 500°F, moving smoothly from stovetop to oven for braising or high-temperature baking of bread. It’s currently $59.49 with a $5 coupon.
Lodge. If there is a Lodge option for a larger pot, I will find it – and I have. This is their 6 quart dutch oven that sells for $67.49 . Sure, it’s a few dollars more expensive than the three-liter engine above, but you can do a lot more with that extra space.
