You Can Now Create Podcast-Style “audio Reviews” Directly in Gemini AI

Last year, Google released a niche feature in its experimental NotebookLM product that turned out to be a hit. You can load any document into NotebookLM and it will use AI to generate a two-person conversational podcast from it . They are not intended to be uploaded to the Internet for viewing, but are intended to be listened to as educational advertisements.

The idea is that there are times when a concept is easier to understand when two people are just casually discussing it. If this sounds appealing to you, then good news: you no longer have to dive into the unfamiliar NotebookLM interface to try it out. Google’s AI-powered podcasts, called audio reviews, are now available for free directly from the Gemini app and website. And now that audio reviews are integrated directly into Gemini, you can even use Gemini Deep Research’s own reports as sources for your podcast.

Personally, I’ve found it helpful to first have Gemini create an in-depth research report on a topic, and then directly create an audio review from it (skipping the need to read it yourself).

Create and download podcasts on any topic

To get started, use the Gemini website or the Gemini app. To upload your own document or slideshow, click the Plus button and add the desired source file. Once the file has been processed, you will see a Create Audio Review button.

Press the button and wait for Gemini to begin its operation. Creating an audio podcast can take anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the depth of the material.

Alternatively, you can have Gemini create a report for you using the “Deep Dig” option below the text field. Here, too, you will have to wait a couple of minutes until the research is ready. Next, open the Deep Dive document, click the down arrow button, and then use the Create Audio Review button. You can also simply type “ Create Audio Review ” in the text field.

When processing is complete, you will receive a notification from the Gemini website or app. You will now see the player in the chat window. Click the Play button to start playback and use the search bar to jump to any point in the recording. Yes, there is also speed control, but you can only increase the playback speed by 1.5 times.

What are your thoughts so far?

I got a 10-minute overview of the podcast from a 12-page document, so the detail is quite good. If you don’t want to listen to your podcast right away or want to share it, you can also download the audio for offline payback. Click the three dot menu button in the audio player and select the Download option.

From here, you can also select the “Share Conversation” option to share your chat and Gemini recording via a link.

And while you’re at Gemini, you can try creating your own AI bots, called Gems , since now anyone can use them.
