PS5 Slim and Astro Bot Bundle Is Cheaper Than a Standalone PS5
We may be living in the PS5 Pro era, but from personal experience, the base PS5 is still good enough for most people. There are no exclusive games for the update yet (and most likely never will be), but one nice thing about its existence is that the original PS5 is now more likely to go on sale.
Let’s take a look at this week’s discounts on both PS5 Slim models (sorry, that’s what Sony calls it ) that you can get by adding a free copy of Astro Bot . These aren’t technically part of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, but the deals are undeniable.
The PS5 Slim, despite being a little thinner and a little different from the launch model, has all the same features as the non-Pro PS5, but in a sleeker format. There are two versions—one that only supports digital games and the other that supports physical discs—but for the most part, these models have replaced the launch version of the PS5 in stores, with the digital version typically costing $450 and the disc version most often costing $500.
Instead, during this sale you can get the digital PS5 Slim for $399 and the disc version for $449, and both models come with last year’s The Game Awards- winning Astro Bot as an added bonus. In fact, these system offerings would be great even without free-to-play. Add that up and you’ll save $110.
The only caveat? Slim PS5 models require a special stand if you want to mount them vertically, although that stand is also on sale now .
