What’s New in Max in April 2025

Max’s April slate includes anticipated new seasons of several original series. First up is the fourth installment of the Max Original Hacks comedy starring Jean Smart as an aging comedian and Hannah Einbinder as her young writer trying to get her late-night show off the ground. Two episodes will premiere on April 10, with additional episodes airing weekly until the season finale on May 29.

Next up will be the second season of HBO’s original post-apocalyptic drama The Last of Us (April 13), based on the video game franchise of the same name. This season takes place five years after the events of the first, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey returning as Joel and Ellie, and Kaitlyn Dever appearing as Abby. New episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-winning show will air weekly and will also be broadcast in American Sign Language (ASL).

On the film side, Max will be streaming on A24 the disaster comedy “Y2K” (April 4), set on New Year’s Eve 1999, and “Girl” (April 25), a thriller starring Nicole Kidman as a CEO who has an affair with her intern (played by Harris Dickinson).

Max subscribers will also get live sports coverage, including NHL and NBA regular season and playoff games, as well as MLB games early in the season.
