X Doesn’t Work
While many X-pats have flocked to alternatives like Bluesky and Threads , there are still many users checking out Elon Musk’s infamous platform. If you are one of them, you may have noticed something strange today: X is not working.
Depending on when you see this article, X may be up and running again. But the platform was unavailable several times on Monday morning. According to Downdetector , most complaints came in three peaks: the first came in around 5:41 a.m., the second at 10:11 a.m., and the third around 11:11 a.m., which is when I first noticed the problems.
There are also a large number of reports associated with the event. If you look at Downdetector’s graph, it turns out that at the time of writing this article, users have submitted more than 150,000 reports.
When I tried to access twitter.com (muscle memory and pettiness prevent me from typing x.com into the browser’s address bar), the site tried to load for a while before throwing up the following error screen:
It’s unknown why the site was experiencing so many technical issues this morning (other than the fact that it’s run by a small portion of the previous staff), but this isn’t the first time the site has gone down under Musk’s watch. Last May , the site had similar problems staying afloat , which Team X solved in due time. The same will likely happen today, but in the meantime, enjoy a well-deserved break from X.
