The Nintendo Alarmo Sound Clock Really Gets Me up in the Morning
For years I depended on my phone to get me out of bed in the morning and I hated it. I easily fell asleep or found myself scrolling through my list of events instead of starting my morning routine. That all changed after my brother gave me perhaps the best Christmas gift I’ve received in years: the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo , which is now available at Walmart or Target for $99.99. It was previously only available on the Nintendo Store .
Alarmo is a digital alarm clock that needs to be plugged into a wall outlet using a USB cable to be powered. You no longer need a Switch Online membership to purchase (or use it). It comes with a variety of built-in themes that you can choose from, including Super Mario Odyssey , The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , Splatoon 3 , Pikmin 4 , and Ring Fit Adventure . Nintendo says you’ll be able to download more games for free in the future, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons . Alarmo uses a motion sensor to detect when you get out of bed and prevent the alarm from going off.
I have been using The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild theme since installing it and have been using it for several months now with great results. Since I have to get up to turn off the alarm and I don’t want the alarm to wake up my fiancée, it worked. I never thought that Nintendo could solve my morning problems and over-reliance on my phone.
It should be noted that although there is no snooze function, it is designed to temporarily stop the music while moving, essentially for sleep. But this is an unpleasant dream, because the music will continue to play, gradually becoming louder. You can also easily unplug it to turn it off completely since it doesn’t have a battery, but it works great either way.
