Everything New in Google Pixel Drop in March 2025

The first Pixel Drop of 2025 is here: quarterly updates for Google phones, tablets and watches include improvements to Gemini Live and other AI-powered features (like call and text fraud detection), health and safety features, and camera and connectivity upgrades.

Here’s everything included in the March issue , available now.

Gemini Improvements

As with December’s Pixel Drop , most of the new Pixels this month are powered by Google Gemini. Gemini Live gets smarter with the ability to automatically switch between 45 spoken languages without having to change language settings. Multimodal capabilities for adding images, files, and YouTube videos to conversations are expanding on Pixel 6 (and later) as well as Pixel Fold devices, while live video and screen sharing are coming to Gemini Advanced .

If you have a Pixel 9 phone with Gemini Nano, you’ll soon get real-time fraud detection that alerts you to malicious calls. The device’s built-in artificial intelligence feature identifies conversation patterns typical of scammers and displays a prompt to end the call. Fraud detection is also available in Google Messages for anyone with a Pixel 6 or later in the US, Canada or UK. If the AI suspects fraud, you will see a warning to report and block the number.

Also in the AI: Pixel Screenshots category will be a new suggestions feature and integration with work profiles, and Pixel Studio will be able to create images of people based on a description of a person or scene.

While many Pixel features are still limited to users in the US, Pixel Screenshots, Pixel Studio, Pixel AI weather reporting, and pollen tracking in the Weather app are rolling out to users in Germany and Japan. Recorder AI summaries will also be available in Japanese (Pixel 9 only) and English.

New health features for Pixel Watch

Pixel Watch 3 owners in the US will soon have access to heart rate loss detection. This feature detects whether the user’s heart has stopped beating and then calls emergency services with an automatic message if you don’t respond (your device must have cellular coverage). This feature was recently approved by the FDA and is expected to be rolled out towards the end of the month. The Pixel Watch 3 also gets on-device menstrual cycle tracking and more accurate step counting for atypical walking patterns, such as pushing a cart or hiking with poles.

Finally, the Pixel Watch 2 comes with an automatic sleep mode that turns off the watch face and notifications when you fall asleep (and turns on when you wake up).

Improved Connectivity

Google is releasing several security-focused connectivity features, including a beta version of Find My Device that shares your current location with family and friends. Satellite SOS, which lets you contact emergency services even if you don’t have cellular service or Wi-Fi, is rolling out to Pixel 9 users in Hawaii, Alaska, Europe and Canada, while satellite text messaging is now available to US Verizon and T-Mobile customers.

Camera and video updates

A new feature called Connected Cameras lets you connect your Pixel 9 to another Pixel phone (6 or later) or GoPro camera (HERO10 Black or later) to stream videos from different angles directly to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. Dual-screen preview on the Pixel Fold adds video recording support as well as an “Add Me” feature for Pixel 9 Pro Fold users.

Additional improvements to accessibility and quality of life

The speech-to-text app Pixel Recorder is getting another update: The app will now automatically transcribe audio recordings, such as lectures, transferred from an old device or Pixel Watch to your current phone. And Gboard has a new voice toolbar that lets you easily access voice input without opening the full keyboard.

There’s a new Modes menu in the Quick Settings panel, allowing you to switch between driving, sleep, Do Not Disturb and other settings by simply swiping down.

Finally, new audio actions coming to the Pixel Watch include fast forwarding and rewinding, as well as the ability to adjust playback speed and manage the playback queue.
