This Keyboard Case Is Finally Available for Android
Clicks , the iPhone keyboard accessory that went viral during CES 2024 , is now available on several Android phones – Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S25 and Moto Razr+ (2024). Clicks adds a physical QWERTY keyboard to your smartphone and also serves as a case for your device. Until now, Clicks was exclusively available for all iPhone 15 and 16 devices, as well as the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.
When the first iPhone was released, it sounded the death knell for smartphones with physical keyboards as the world moved to bar-shaped phones with larger screens. Typing on a touchscreen is comfortable enough for most people, but Clicks is banking on the fact that content creators, vloggers, and people who value productivity may find it easier to type on a physical keyboard. I know for a fact that I make far fewer typos on my MacBook than on my iPhone, but the downside of Clicks is that it adds weight to your phone. This changes the weight distribution of your phone, and some people may find it more difficult to use the phone as it will feel heavier.
Clicks says Android users can customize their device’s typing settings using the companion app, such as changing the functionality of the shortcut buttons. Each Clicks case has several shortcut buttons that vary by device, but the search button appears on all keyboard variants. The company says the keys have metal dome switches that provide haptic feedback, and that the keys are backlit so you don’t have to switch back to the on-screen keyboard when you lose the light.
Because the keyboard is below the screen, you can use the phone’s entire display at all times. This is a benefit, especially for apps that benefit from more screen real estate, but it makes your phone so bulky that it can’t easily fit in a pocket or purse. However, you don’t need to remove the case to charge your phone as the Clicks supports pass-through charging via USB-C. For the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, Clicks also supports wireless charging.
On the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, Click is available in two colors: Surge (yellow) and Onyx (black). The company says it plans to begin shipping these cases by the end of April. The Motorola Razr+ (2024) is available in Electric Blue and Onyx color options and will begin shipping at the end of May. Finally, the Galaxy S25 comes in Pinot (reddish brown) and Onyx color options and is expected to ship in June. Pre-orders for all variants of the Android keyboard accessory open today on the company’s website with a starting price of $99. This price is valid until March 21st. If you order after this, the final price will be $139.00.
