This Ring Spotlight Camera Is Currently $120.
CCTV cameras with floodlights can be damaged or missed – sometimes the light is not bright enough; sometimes the camera quality is not enough; and in other cases, motion detection is too sensitive. But the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro (Certified Refurbished) , currently on sale on Woot for $119.99 (for seven days or until sold out), seems to check all the right boxes—provided you don’t mind a refurbished device.
It comes with a one-year limited warranty, just like the new model, which is reassuring. And if you’re a Prime member, you get free standard shipping (it’s $6 otherwise), although it doesn’t ship to Alaska, Hawaii, PO Boxes, or APO addresses.
Available in black or white, this floodlight camera packs some serious lighting power thanks to two dimmable LED bulbs that produce 2,000 lumens each (enough to light up a backyard or driveway). Additionally, its 2K HDR camera offers a viewing angle of 140 degrees horizontally and 80 degrees vertically, which means it can cover a larger area. You’ll also find a 110dB siren, built-in speaker and microphone for two-way communication, and six infrared LEDs for black-and-white night vision. The camera switches to color night vision (when the spotlights are on), which is good, but don’t expect colors to be as vibrant as daytime footage, PCMag’s review notes.
It features 3D motion detection, which means you can set motion zones (up to 30 feet) and only receive alerts when motion crosses a set threshold. It also supports Bird’s Eye View, which tracks visitor movements using aerial photography. Pretty cool – if you’re willing to pay for a Ring Home subscription (without a plan, you’re limited to live viewing). The Basic Plan ($4.99 per month) gives you 180 days of storage, people/package alerts, and video previews. The Premium Plan ($19.99 per month) adds 24/7 recording, smart video search, and one-touch emergency response. If you need virtual security guards or professional monitoring, it will cost you extra.
Setting up the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro isn’t too complicated, but it does require some high-voltage wiring (100-240V). If you’re happy with that, the Ring app makes setup easy. The app also allows you to control motion settings, alerts, light brightness, color night vision, siren and more. It runs on dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) and integrates well with Alexa and IFTTT, but doesn’t support HomeKit or Google Assistant. If you’re considering alternatives, you might want to consider the Arlo Pro 4 Flood Camera for $129.99.
