Threads Now Lets You Share Custom Feeds Like Bluesky

Bluesky is very popular right now – just ask Mark Zuckerberg. Even though Bluesky has only a small fraction of Threads’ total users ( 30 million versus Threads’ 320 million ), Adam Mosseri, head of Threads, is working hard to make Threads more like Bluesky . Bluesky’s unique features include a non-algorithmic timeline and more sophisticated moderation tools , but one of the features that Bluesky users really like and that Threads is introducing first is shared user channels .

Threads also has the ability to create your own channels. And now you can share them either with a link, or in Direct, or even by advertising them on your profile page. Creating a custom feed means freedom from the algorithmic Thread feed that may show you content from accounts you don’t care about.

You can create your own channels from the Threads app or website. Tap and hold a For You or Followers channel, then select the Create a new channel option. Next, make sure the “Public Channel” option is enabled if you want your new channel to appear on your profile for others to view.

Click the Add Topics or Profiles button. Find profiles and add them to the list. You can also do this for any topic or search term. When you’re done, click Create Feed . You can add up to 150 profiles and 5 topics to a custom channel , and you can create up to 128 custom channels in total.

Once created, the new channel will appear in the Channels panel. This is where you can start sharing.

On your profile page, go to the Channels tab and select Channel. Here, click the Share Feed button. You’ll see the option to message Instagram or Threads users. Or you can simply copy the channel link to your clipboard, which you can share anywhere.

When interacting with other people’s feeds, you have two options. You can use the Pin to Home button to add a feed to the Topics home screen so you can view it without following everyone included in it. Or click the “Follow Profiles” button to follow all the profiles in the list.

If you decide you don’t like a user feed that was shared with you, don’t worry. As with any other channel, long press the channel tab at the top and select Delete to get rid of it.
