You Should Enable the Shortcuts Feature in Google Widget for Android.

Google’s Android home screen widget has a new hidden feature that is disabled by default. The latest Google app update adds a new customization feature that allows you to add a new shortcut to a Google app widget. This will allow you to tap an icon in the widget to quickly jump to reading news, viewing weather updates, or viewing sports scores.

To get it, first make sure your Google app is updated to the latest version (16.3.34 or higher). Next, open the Google app on your smartphone and tap the Profile icon on the top toolbar. Select the Settings option and go to the Customize Search Widget menu. Here you can customize the widget’s appearance by adjusting the color and transparency.

Scroll down until you see the new Shortcuts section, which features new shortcuts such as Translation, Search Song, Weather, Translate (Camera), Translate (Text), Sports, Dictionary, Homework, and Finance. Click the Plus button to add a new shortcut.

Select the shortcut you want, which you can view right at the top. The Google widget only supports one shortcut at a time, so you can’t add multiple shortcuts right now.

The new shortcut will appear next to the default voice search and lens icons in the Google search box. The icons don’t support the Material You theme, so they won’t match your home screen theme if you’re using it. But for most Android users this is not a problem.

If you don’t already have a Google widget set up, you can easily do so from your home screen. The steps vary slightly depending on which Android OS you’re using. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home screen and select the Widgets option. Here, scroll to the Google apps section and add the Google widget. You can expand it or reduce it.

Now, thanks to the widget, you will see your new shortcut right here. Click on a shortcut to go to the corresponding function in the Google app.
