Swear at Google Until It Hides AI Search Results
Are you tired of that annoying “AI review” at the top of your search results? It turns out that you can get rid of it by starting the search with the word “fuck.” The trick has gone viral thanks to a Tumblr thread , and it’s working wonders. I’ve been trying this all morning: the AI disappears, but otherwise the results are more or less the same.
Is this the best way to stop seeing AI in search results? No. We’ve talked about how to disable Google’s AI search results by changing your browser’s default search engine to only show results from the web, which is better. But is this the funniest way to stop seeing AI in search results? Hell yes it is. And this is ideal if you sometimes want to see AI results, but need a way to exclude them on a case-by-case basis.
Sometimes when you’re searching, you need a quick answer. AI search results are potentially useful for this. However, sometimes you need a deep dive into specific topics, written and curated by real experts. AI results in this context mostly just clutter up search results.
Turns out you can eliminate them from your search results with a strategically placed bomb. I don’t know specifically why this works, but I’m guessing it’s some kind of filter put in place by Google to avoid situations where the AI swears at users.
This is especially funny because this is how people use profanity in real life. Comedian James Acaster once explained the reason he started swearing during stand-up in one of my favorite segments . He realized that by not swearing, he was “attracting an audience that I hate.” The thing is, saying “fuck” from time to time can mean that people who don’t like profanity won’t interact with you.
