Netflix Will Finally Allow IPhone and IPad Users to Download the Entire Season With One Tap

I’m at the age where I have a pre-written list of things for every occasion, and the very last item on the list, although not the most important, is entertainment. I almost see it as a reward for myself. Once I’ve packed all my clothes and medications, I sit down with my iPad and download my favorite shows to watch on the plane. The problem is that after a while, manually downloading episode after episode becomes less fun.

This is where Netflix’s newest feature for iPhone and iPad comes into play. When you update your app, your favorite shows will now have a Download Season button next to the Share icon. Android users already had this button, but now Apple users can use it too.

It looks like a downward arrow with two curved lines underneath it, and clicking on it will immediately start downloading the entire season at the same time as a progress bar. Not only will this save you from having to click multiple times, but it will also allow you to get up and do something else while your show is loading, rather than having to wait for one episode to finish loading before starting to load the next one.

It’s worth noting that while you can technically already download multiple episodes at once by simply clicking the download button next to each episode in quick succession, I found that this tends to create errors. Luckily, I didn’t experience any of these errors when downloading Season 2 of The Squid using the new button, and I actually felt like the download was faster, likely due to the efficiency of sending one request to Netflix’s servers instead of seven.

Netflix hasn’t mentioned what happens if you go over your download limit while downloading an entire season, but after testing, I found that you can still click the “Download Season” button, but it will only download as many episodes as needed. you have some left, but you refuse to download the rest.
