WhatsApp Finally Adds Multiple Accounts to IPhone
WhatsApp appears to be finally making its iPhone app work faster with its Android companion: allowing you to use multiple accounts on the same device. The “new” feature, available on Android from 2023, was discovered by WABetaInfo in the iPhone app’s latest TestFlight beta program.
If (but more likely one day) multiple account switching eventually makes it to the general public, users will be able to manage and sign in to multiple WhatsApp accounts within a single instance of the WhatsApp app, eliminating the need to keep multiple devices on hand to manage each from your WhatsApp accounts. This will be especially convenient for small businesses.

The catch is that each account still needs to have its own phone number, so you’ll need either a multi-SIM phone or some other way to get an additional phone number , but new iPhones can usually store up to eight eSIMs and use two. phone numbers so this shouldn’t be a problem. Additionally, it’s worth noting that WhatsApp currently offers a WhatsApp Business app in addition to its standard app, so iPhone users can technically already maintain two accounts on the same device – one for each app – but this change will still offer users greater flexibility.
According to WABetaInfo, there are two ways to get multiple WhatsApp accounts on one device. You can simply set up your new account as a separate master account, or use the QR code to link it to your existing account as a “companion”. The site explains that things like “notifications, chats, and backups will vary per account,” so it looks like the method you sign up with has more to do with ease of location than how you will actually use the application.
Although the WhatsApp TestFlight beta program is open to the public, it is not currently accepting new participants, so anxious iPhone users will have to wait for the final version to be able to switch between multiple accounts. Unfortunately, WABetaInfo doesn’t have any updates on when this feature might launch, but if you were planning on purchasing an additional device just for WhatsApp, it might be wise to wait for now.
